Assistant Shift Team Leader role at BWSC in Craigellachie, on the Operations team for a biomass plant. The role is designed for individuals with knowledge and experience in operations, maintenance, or technical trades, including Military or Operational backgrounds, with two current vacancies.
What will you be doing?Reporting to the Shift Team Leader, you will be responsible for ensuring the plant is operated with respect to safety, environmental and operational limits at all times, whilst maximizing availability, reliability and efficiency. Full training specific to the role will be provided.
Responsibilities- Operate the plant with respect to safety, environmental and operational limits at all times, including steady state, start-up, shutdown and emergency situations, from the Control Room and/or plant as required.
- Undertake routine plant inspections, operational routines, adjustments and testing, and collect/record plant data.
- Perform general defect rectification, planned and first-line reactive maintenance and fault finding to meet availability and reliability targets.
- Organise and participate in housekeeping and plant cleaning activities daily.
- Monitor plant performance and take proactive measures to improve shortfalls.
- Adhere to site safety rules, including isolation of mechanical and electrical equipment and HV switching up to 33kV; training and experience to deputise as Senior Authorised Person (Mech/LV & HV).
- Provide operational support for maintenance and fuel handling teams to maximise performance and safety, particularly during fuel delivery and by-product removal periods.
- Own receipt of all plant operational chemicals onto site.
- Maintain an accurate shift log and record defects/works in the maintenance management system.
- Contribute to health, safety and environmental management policies and help develop site operations procedures to keep them accurate and sufficient.
- Provide operational support for planned outages as required, which may include day working.

Specific experience in an operational or production role on an EFW, CHP, Biomass or Renewable Power Station is a primary requirement; gasification experience or a trade/engineering background is an advantage.
