Government body consultancy-style role within a government body, working in a team led by a highly experienced Pensions Actuary. This team acts as a "consultancy within the Civil Service," charging by the hour to provide risk analysis and quality assurance on high-profile public sector projects.

Location: London or Edinburgh (2x/week in office)

The Role

  • Assurance: Using Actuarial skills to assess models, business cases, and analysis to identify risks, limitations, and areas for improvement. Formulate recommendations to ensure implementation and risk management across public sector issues.
  • Origination/ Business Development: Identifying new opportunities to provide actuarial advice across cross-government networks and building/developing client relationships.
  • Delivery: Leading teams to manage end-to-end delivery of risk and assurance engagements.
  • Stakeholder/ Client Management: Translating complex technical concepts for non-specialist senior decision-makers and Ministers. Manage expectations of both clients and internal stakeholders.

The Individual

  • Must be a qualified Actuary (FIA).
  • Open to Actuaries from all disciplines, focused on the ability to think broadly. Pensions background preferred, must be in a consultative role.
  • Quality assurance experience useful.
  • Experience leading concurrent diverse projects and teams.
  • Experience in client relationship management.
