BWD are supporting a boutique wealth and investment management business that is looking to appoint an Investment Manager to join its London-based investment team. This is an excellent opportunity for an investment professional who wants genuine responsibility for managing discretionary portfolios, contributing to investment strategy and developing their career within a growing business. The firm combines the personalised, client-focused approach of a boutique wealth manager with the resources and investment expertise of a wider international group. With the business continuing to evolve and strengthen its investment proposition, the successful candidate will have the opportunity to play an important role in its future development.
The Opportunity
Working within a small, collaborative investment team, you will take responsibility for managing a portfolio of clients, with exposure to a diverse range of HNW and UHNW private clients. This is a hands-on, investment-focused position offering a broad remit across portfolio management, investment research, asset allocation and strategy.
Key responsibilities include:
- Managing discretionary multi-asset and equity portfolios, ensuring investment decisions align with individual client objectives, risk profiles and mandates.
- Taking ownership of portfolio construction, asset allocation, investment selection and ongoing portfolio monitoring.
- Conducting equity, fund and wider investment research, identifying opportunities across global markets.
- Contributing investment ideas and market views to the firm's Investment Strategy Committee.
- Supporting the development of investment themes, portfolio models and asset allocation strategies.
- Working collaboratively with international investment specialists and research teams.
- Managing bespoke client portfolios across different custodians, with exposure to a wider family office environment.
- Supporting client relationships and communicating investment decisions where required.
What Makes This Opportunity Attractive?
- Genuine investment responsibility – independently manage a meaningful portfolio of discretionary assets rather than simply implementing centrally determined investment decisions.
- Influence investment strategy – contribute ideas, research and market views to investment discussions and portfolio construction.
- The best of both worlds – benefit from the autonomy and visibility of a smaller investment team, alongside the research capabilities and resources of a larger international group.
- Varied investment exposure – work across multiple asset classes, bespoke client mandates and a diverse private client base.
- Career development – join a business at an exciting stage of its evolution, with opportunities to take on greater responsibility as the investment function develops.
- Investment-led rather than sales-led – there is no requirement to bring an existing client book or portable assets.

- A genuine interest in financial markets, investment research and developing investment ideas.
- Experience working with HNW private clients and managing portfolios against individual investment mandates.
- Strong analytical skills, sound investment judgement and the confidence to make investment decisions.
- An RDR-compliant qualification (minimum Level 4), with CFA or higher-level investment qualifications advantageous.
- The ability to work independently while contributing to a collaborative investment team.
Above all, we are looking for someone who is genuinely passionate about investing, enjoys researching markets and wants to make a meaningful contribution beyond the day-to-day management of portfolios.
