London-based. Reporting to the CEO, you will take the lead on governance and compliance across the business, helping ensure it meets legal standards and industry-specific regulations, and that the same high bar is reflected in client work.

You will:

  • Develop, implement and maintain compliance policies, procedures and service delivery templates that support high-quality pension trustee and governance services.
  • Provide practical training and guidance to the wider team on compliance and governance matters.
  • Act as the principal contact for scheme-related governance or compliance issues, escalating to the Board or Executive Management Team where needed.
  • Keep on top of regulatory change and best practice so that the firm’s governance and compliance framework stays ahead of the curve.
  • Monitor controls and carry out regular checks, including control objectives under the AAF 02/07 Audit and Assurance Framework and scheme statutory deadlines, using the Knowa governance platform.
  • Maintain internal logs for Internal Dispute Resolution Procedures, errors, omissions and other critical issues.
  • Oversee professional qualifications and CPD records for the team, working with the leadership group to maintain the highest professional standards.

Governance and Compliance Committee

  • Serve as a member of the internal Governance and Compliance Committee, and take responsibility for its compliance and effectiveness.
  • Lead the committee structure, annual Terms of Reference review and practical changes in how governance is delivered.
  • Liaise with the firm’s professional trustees at Board level.

GDPR and cyber security

  • Act as a core member of the GDPR team, working closely with the Board director responsible for GDPR.
  • Maintain the GDPR breach log and oversee ICO registrations for both the business and pension schemes where required.
  • Report breaches to the ICO where necessary.
  • Own the annual AAF 02/07 audit process as main contact for external auditors.
  • Set and manage AAF control objectives, ensure processes are adhered to and measures are met.
  • Liaise with clients in respect of audits, respond to queries and manage evidence gathering.

For this role, you will need to have strong UK pensions knowledge and practical experience of compliance or governance work, ideally in pensions setting. The role is full time, with roughly two days a week in London.
