I'm working with an established UK investment and wealth management business looking to appoint an experienced Funds Business Development Manager into a newly created position within its intermediary distribution team. This is a genuinely new-business-focused role, suited to someone who enjoys developing opportunities, opening new relationships and ultimately converting those relationships into meaningful fund flows. Working on a home-based contract, you will have a particular focus on clients across London and the South East, alongside some wider UK travel.

The role

  • You will be responsible for developing new business opportunities across the UK intermediary market, building relationships with financial advisers, discretionary investment managers and key fund selectors.
  • Key responsibilities will include:
    • Identifying, developing and closing new fund sales opportunities
    • Building and maintaining a strong pipeline of prospective clients and opportunities
    • Developing relationships with IFAs, DFMs, wealth managers and key intermediary accounts
    • Delivering against new-business, sales and activity targets
    • Presenting a broad range of investment funds and strategies to prospective clients
    • Identifying opportunities to increase assets under management
    • Working collaboratively with Investment Specialists, Fund Managers, Marketing and wider distribution colleagues
    • Maintaining a strong understanding of the UK investment and intermediary landscape

About you

  • We're particularly interested in speaking with candidates who have:
  • A minimum of around five years' experience within fund sales, asset management distribution or a closely related intermediary sales role
  • A proven track record of winning new business and generating investment flows
  • Strong existing knowledge of the UK financial adviser, wealth management and/or DFM market
  • Experience selling investment funds or investment-management products
  • A strong network of intermediary relationships
  • Good technical knowledge of investments and the ability to articulate investment strategies credibly
  • A proactive, commercially driven and self-sufficient approach to business development
  • Strong presentation, relationship-building and negotiation skills

Previous experience covering London and the South East would be particularly advantageous. This is an opportunity to join a growing investment business in a newly created role where you will have genuine ownership of new-business development and the opportunity to make a visible impact on the growth of the fund proposition.
