About the role: BWB Consulting is seeking a Senior Building Physics Consultant to join our award‑winning team in Leeds. The role is primarily based in Leeds, with occasional travel across the UK and to other BWB offices. You will lead the delivery of building physics and environmental performance consultancy for low‑energy, high‑performance buildings, overseeing dynamic simulation modelling, operational energy analysis, and performance‑driven design strategies. Acting as a key technical advisor, you will guide projects from early‑stage design through to delivery, ensuring energy, carbon, comfort, and sustainability targets are achieved. The role includes leading technical reporting, energy strategies, and compliance documentation, while working closely with clients, architects, engineers, and multidisciplinary teams to influence design decisions and optimise building performance. You will also mentor junior team members and support the continued growth of technical expertise within the team.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Lead building physics analysis and dynamic simulation modelling using IES‑VE to deliver high‑quality, performance‑led design solutions.
  • Oversee operational energy modelling, thermal comfort, overheating, daylight, and sustainability assessments to support low‑energy, high‑performance buildings.
  • Lead compliance modelling, energy strategies, technical reporting, and certification processes including SAP, SBEM, BREEAM, and NABERS UK.
  • Act as a key technical advisor within multidisciplinary teams, managing project delivery, influencing design decisions, and mentoring junior colleagues.

What You’ll Bring

  • Proven experience in building physics or sustainability consultancy, delivering performance‑led design advice across a range of projects and design stages.
  • Strong technical expertise in dynamic thermal modelling, operational energy analysis, thermal comfort, daylight assessments, and environmental compliance, including commercial EPCs, compliance modelling, and domestic energy assessment frameworks such as OCDEA.
  • Experience producing technical reports, energy strategies, and supporting planning, compliance, and certification processes including BREEAM, SAP, SBEM, and NABERS UK.
  • Degree qualified (BSc/MSc) in Building Physics, Engineering, Sustainable Design, or a related discipline, with professional membership (e.g. CIBSE or Energy Institute) and progress towards chartership desirable.
  • Relevant certifications such as CIBSE LCC, ESOS Lead Assessor, BREEAM Assessor/AP, or NABERS UK Licensed Assessor are advantageous.
  • Confident working collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams and engaging directly with clients to influence sustainable design outcomes.
