What You’ll Be Doing
- Support the delivery of hydrology, hydraulic modelling, and flood risk assessments, including contributing to Environmental Statements and related planning documentation.
- Work on projects across a range of client sectors (private developers and public bodies) and scales, from individual sites to Nationally Significant Infrastructure Projects (NSIPs), across all stages from pre-planning to construction.
- Assist with project management activities, including client communication, programme coordination, resource planning, and financial tracking.
- Contribute to the development of practical and effective solutions to flood risk challenges, such as flood alleviation options and watercourse diversions.
- Engage with clients, multidisciplinary teams, and stakeholders to support the delivery of balanced solutions that consider both development and environmental needs.
- Prepare and contribute to technical reports, providing clear and accurate analysis throughout the project lifecycle.
- Work collaboratively with other disciplines to support the delivery of integrated project outcomes.
What You’ll Bring
- Good understanding of the National Planning Policy Framework (NPPF) and UK flood risk and drainage policy.
- Experience supporting the delivery of projects, with an understanding of programme, budget, and quality requirements.
- Experience using hydraulic modelling software such as Flood Modeller Pro and TUFLOW; experience with InfoWorks ICM is beneficial but not essential.
- Experience in hydrological analysis using Flood Estimation Handbook methodologies and associated tools (e.g. ReFH2, WINFAP).
- Willingness to support and share knowledge with junior team members.
- Experience contributing to Environmental Statement chapters and some awareness of the Water Framework Directive would be beneficial.
- Understanding of drainage strategies and Sustainable Drainage Systems (SuDS) is desirable.
- Competence in GIS software (e.g. QGIS) and Microsoft Office tools.
- Experience with AutoCAD, Civil 3D, and Causeway Flow is advantageous but not essential.
- Good communication skills and the ability to build effective working relationships with colleagues, clients, and stakeholders.
