No two days will be the same in this role – you’ll get the best of both worlds with a mix of site and office-based work. You’ll take ownership of projects, shape designs from concept to delivery, and mentor the next generation of engineers.
Lead and inspire a collaborative, innovative team. Deliver technically excellent designs and solutions across earthworks, foundations, slope stability, pavements, and retaining structures. Oversee ground investigations, from site logging to reporting, aligned with BS5930 and Eurocode 7. Use industry-leading geotechnical software (Slope W, Plaxis, Geo5 or similar) to deliver innovative solutions. Build strong client relationships and ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest quality. Champion continuous improvement, bringing fresh thinking and best practice into every project.

You’ve helped colleagues grow their skills and confidence, strengthening the team. Clients come back to you because of the relationships and trust you’ve built. You play a key part in shaping innovative, sustainable solutions that make a tangible difference.
What you’ll bring: We’re looking for someone who blends technical expertise with leadership and a genuine passion for geotechnical engineering. Degree in Civil or Geotechnical Engineering (or Engineering Geology with geotechnical design experience); a Master’s is an advantage. Chartered Engineer status (or working towards it). At least 5 years’ experience, with a proven record of leading smaller projects and contributing to complex schemes. Strong geotechnical design and analysis skills (Slope W, Plaxis, Geo5 or similar). Excellent communication and people skills – with a collaborative, supportive approach.
