Company Overview
BW is dedicated to crafting modern spaces that reflect the evolving nature of work. We believe that offices are more than just physical spaces; they are environments where collaboration, learning, and community thrive. Our mission is to create workplaces that allow cultures to flourish and inspire individuals to look forward to coming into the office.
Background & Job Purpose
A fundamental aspect of our success lies in our capacity to secure new contracts through successful tenders, which our Bid Management team develops and produces alongside our specialist delivery teams. Due to ongoing growth, we are seeking a Pre Construction Manager who can introduce leadership, creativity, and innovation to our technical proposals. The successful candidate will oversee the entire bid cycle, from Pre-Qualification Questionnaires (PQQs) to tenders and post-tender presentations.
Role Overview
As a Pre Construction Manager at BW, you will manage the preconstruction bid process, coordinate internal and external resources, and deliver successful bids on time and to the highest quality, surpassing clients' expectations. Our starting point is that we do not merely align with the tender deliverables; we seek to exceed them every time, on every tender.
Job Scope
- The successful candidate will lead the preparation of tender proposals and pre-qualification documentation for the Pre-Construction team; duties will include, but not be limited to the following:
- Developing and co-ordinating bid-winning strategies, ensuring alignment with BW’s business objectives.
- Producing creative and innovative proposals across all pitches, taking sole responsibility for projects assigned by the Director of Bids.
- Identifying project risks and associated solutions, ensuring mitigation strategies are in place.
- Liaising frequently with all other team members involved in the pre-construction process to ensure individuals are up-to-date with progress, submission proposals, and workload.
- Ensure that PQQs and tender proposals are completed on time, with all deliverables passed to the creative designers according to pre-determined deadlines and agreed-upon formats/protocols.
- Actively liaising with creative designers to agree on content for tender interview/presentation documents and be actively involved in their preparation, ensuring draft documentation is ready for key milestones during interview preparation.
- Leading the preparation and training of bid pitch teams, ensuring every post-tender interview is truly memorable, bespoke, compelling, and to the point, landing all our key messages in a way that connects and aligns with the client’s needs.
Candidate Profile
The successful candidate must be able to demonstrate the personal qualities, values, and attitudes that are essential to BW’s business and the role:
- A comprehensive understanding of the construction process, procurement routes, and forms of contract.
- Experience in the construction industry, ideally within the fit-out market.
- A positive attitude and passion for innovation, with the resilience to implement new ideas and initiatives.
- A desire for self-development and the ability to encourage ongoing development in others.
- A strong, proactive team player with the ability to multi-task and prioritise whilst demonstrating leadership, encouragement, and excellent organisational skills.
- Great attention to detail with excellence in written communication, ensuring the highest standards of grammar and accuracy.
- Strong IT skills, including proficiency in Word, Outlook, and Excel as a minimum.
