The Project Engineer – Automation & Integration supports the execution of automation and integration projects by owning the post‑sale system layout and coordinating supplier interface information and engineering documentation following solution validation. Participates in customer site surveys and measure‑ups with A&I site management and maintains technical alignment across suppliers, internal teams, and customer requirements throughout the project. Works in close partnership with A&I Project Management, Site Management, Controls Integration, Procurement, and external suppliers to ensure layouts, interfaces, and installation packages remain accurate, aligned, and ready to support execution.
Key Responsibilities
- System Layout Ownership & Site Validation: Participate in customer site surveys and measure‑ups along with A&I site management at the time of solution validation. Serve as the owner of the post‑sale system layout throughout the life of the project, maintaining accuracy as supplier information, interfaces, and project details evolve.
- Supplier Interface Coordination & Validation: Coordinate incoming technical information from suppliers related to interfacing details. Perform final validation between suppliers prior to customer approval to ensure interfaces are aligned and complete.
- Supplier Buyout & Change Support: Coordinate buyout of external supplier equipment and services with the Procurement Leader. Coordinate pricing and technical information from suppliers for external customer change order requests.
- Engineering Deliverables & Documentation: Working with the A&I Project Manager, coordinate and track receipt of necessary engineering details from suppliers to support customer deliverables, including drawings, utility information, engineering documentation, spare parts lists, and manuals. Ensure supplier‑provided information is complete and aligned prior to downstream use.
- Installation Package Coordination: Working with the A&I Site Manager and the A&I Controls Integration team, create and coordinate the distribution and review of mechanical and electrical installation packages, including drawings and RFQ specifications, for supplier review and quoting. Ensure installation documentation reflects final layouts, interfaces, and supplier scope.
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical discipline preferred.
- Experience supporting automation, integration, or capital equipment projects in a manufacturing or industrial environment.
- Ability to read and interpret system layouts, mechanical drawings, and electrical documentation.
- Experience coordinating supplier‑provided technical information and documentation across multiple interfaces.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail in complex, multi‑supplier environments.
- Clear communicator able to work across engineering, project management, procurement, and site teams.
- Flexibility to take on evolving responsibilities in response to strategic priorities and business needs.
