We are looking for a Shift Engineer to join our Engineering team on a 4-on, 4-off rotation covering day and night shifts, playing an essential role in the smooth and safe operation of the hotel around the clock. Reporting to the Assistant Chief Engineer, you will be a reliable and technically capable presence across the property - you will be responsible for the day-to-day maintenance and upkeep of the hotel, ensuring all electrical and mechanical systems, guest bedrooms, public areas, and plant and equipment are maintained to the highest standard. This is a hands‑on, varied role in a 24/7 operation - no two shifts are the same. You will work as part of a collaborative team, respond to maintenance requests across the property, and occasionally supervise contractors on site.
Key Responsibilities
- Carrying out electrical and mechanical maintenance tasks across the hotel safely and to a professional standard
- Maintaining guest bedrooms, living areas, public spaces and leisure facilities including the Spa, pool and sauna
- Supporting the upkeep of all hotel plant and equipment
- Responding to maintenance requests from operational departments and providing clear, timely feedback
- Liaising with external contractors and specialist services in the event of emergency or breakdown
- Supervising contractors on site and supporting the development of junior team members
- Upholding Health & Safety standards at all times, ensuring the wellbeing of guests, residents and colleagues
What We Are Looking For
- At least two years' experience in a similar role within a luxury or 5‑star hotel
- Solid hands‑on knowledge of both electrical and mechanical systems
- A methodical, safety-conscious approach to all work
- Professional in manner and conduct, with the confidence to operate in a world‑class environment
- Dependable and communicative, with the ability to work independently across a rotating shift pattern including nights
