The Cashier is responsible for the accurate, efficient, and secure collection and processing of BVI Electricity Corporation’s revenue through various payment methods. The role ensures transactions are properly recorded, balanced, and accounted for in accordance with established policies, procedures, and internal controls. The Cashier provides courteous customer service, addresses payment-related inquiries, and assists with resolving transaction discrepancies. The position requires accuracy, integrity, attention to detail, and accountability in safeguarding Corporation revenue and supporting efficient revenue collection operations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Collect and accurately process the Corporation’s revenue through approved payment methods.
- Record, report, and reconcile payments received in accordance with established procedures.
- Process cash, credit card, and debit card payments accurately and efficiently.
- File and maintain all related financial and transaction documents.
- Maintain positive, collaborative working relationships with colleagues across the Corporation to support efficient service delivery.
- Work collaboratively with other departments to provide effective customer service and support.
- Assist customers with setting up and accessing online accounts.
- Perform other related duties as assigned, within the scope of the position and the employee’s competence.
Qualifications and Competencies:
- High School Diploma or equivalent (minimum requirement)
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and customer service skills
- Basic knowledge of bookkeeping and cash-handling procedures
- Proficiency in standard computer applications
- Strong numerical, organizational, and attention-to-detail skills
- 0–1 year of experience in a cashier, customer service, or office environment
Work Environment:
- Primarily an office environment, with some coordination with field personnel regarding disconnection and reconnection activities.
- May require extended hours during peak periods or as operational demands require.
- Frequent interaction with customers, employees, and other internal departments.
Compensation:
Entry-level placement. Salary will be commensurate with experience and qualifications.
