Independent Media is seeking a Content Editor to work across two brands, Tasty UK and BuzzFeed UK. This role involves managing homepages, editing and producing articles (both commercial and editorial), newsletters, and publishing and optimising content across the websites and social media platforms.
You will work across both brands with distinct remits, including content curation and hands-on social media publishing to drive audience engagement and traffic.
For Tasty UK, the role will focus heavily on curating the newly created UK section of Tasty.co. This will involve updating the section, uploading content, sourcing material, and supporting the launch of a Tasty UK newsletter later this year. Candidates should have experience working with recipe content and a strong understanding of food and drink, as well as experience publishing and optimising this type of content for social media platforms.
For BuzzFeed UK, you will work closely with the Lead Editor of the UK site to curate the homepage, update content, and manage syndicated content from the brand’s US team, alongside supporting the distribution of content across social channels. This role will rely on a strong understanding of each brand and need to split work while managing deadlines and priorities.
To be successful in this position you must demonstrate excellent editorial judgement, writing skills, communication skills, have strong collaboration skills and be highly organised. You will take pride in editing to a high standard, with a creative approach to the headlines and imagery which will drive our readers to click on our content in a competitive space.
Key responsibilities and accountabilities:
- Manage and edit homepages and section pages
- Edit copy and upload content to the CMS, ensuring it meets editorial standards and compliance requirements
- Publish and optimise content across social media platforms, tailoring content to different audiences and channels
- Work closely with brand leads to support content production, edits and distribution
- Commission writers and content creators with authority and expertise
- Liaise with commercial and delivery teams to ensure all commercial content is delivered for each campaign sold
- Help manage the delivery of commercial content by uploading and commissioning where necessary
Essential skills and experience:
- Strong editing and sub-editing skills, with a keen eye for detail
- Experience publishing content across social media platforms
- Experience commissioning freelancers

- Experience with basic image editing skills
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills
- SEO knowledge
- Adaptability and the ability to work across a variety of topics
- Experience working with food and drink content (particularly for web and social platforms) is highly desirable
This is a hybrid role, requiring you to work in the London-based office 2-3 days per week.
