Team Overview

The primary objective of the Fiscal Solutions Compliance team is to ensure the timely and accurate filing of clients’ VAT returns and supplementary reports, while consistently providing a high standard of client service. The team consists of over 30 indirect tax compliance specialists with expertise across a wide range of jurisdictions. We currently offer VAT return filings and supplementary reporting services in 39 countries. Each client is supported by a dedicated compliance contact who understands their business activities and provides guidance on the complex VAT compliance landscape. Compliance Assistants report into the Fiscal Solutions management team and work closely with Client Managers to deliver effective and compliant outcomes for clients.

Role Overview

The Compliance Assistant role is a challenging and highly rewarding opportunity, ideal for individuals looking to build experience within the VAT compliance field. The role offers a structured training programme combined with hands on, on‑the‑job learning. Each Compliance Assistant is assigned a mentor who provides ongoing technical and compliance support. You will manage your own client portfolio and work closely with Client Managers to assist with the preparation and filing of VAT returns and other supplementary declarations.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Prepare VAT workings and analyse financial data, including reviewing invoices and import documentation to ensure compliance.
  • Manage a small client portfolio and liaise directly with clients as required.
  • Draft client communications for Client Managers, including responses to queries and data clarification requests.
  • Calculate VAT liabilities for each filing period.
  • Submit periodic VAT returns and supplementary reports (including SAF T, Intrastat, and EC Sales Lists) via official Tax Authority portals or local partners.
  • Manage deadlines and contractual scope to ensure compliance obligations are met.
  • Support Client Managers with ad hoc requests.
  • Contribute to internal projects and support the wider team.
  • Maintain and develop VAT technical knowledge.

  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build effective relationships with colleagues and clients.
  • GCSEs including English and Maths at grade B (level 6) or equivalent.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret data and solve problems.
  • A fast learner with a proactive approach to development.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, with intermediate skills in Excel, Word, and Outlook.
  • Basic working knowledge of PowerPoint.
