We are looking for an Assistant Manager or Manager to join our well-established UK/US tax team, where you will develop and manage a portfolio of clients' tax compliance and advisory needs. Our team of c. 80 people help UK and US citizens and businesses, based away from home, to manage their net earnings and reduce liabilities. The team knows both tax systems inside out and has handled relocations for solo workers up to hundreds of employees.

The ideal candidate will be passionate about UK/US tax and enjoy sharing knowledge with colleagues to ensure team development, as well as best service for our clients. UK/US dual qualification is required, along with experience of delivering a high-quality personal service to clients.

Key aspects of the role include:

  • Managing a portfolio of up to 150 clients, both delegating responsibility to junior staff and consulting Directors where applicable.
  • Organising and running every assignment as effectively and efficiently as possible, in accordance with the firm’s standards, and ensuring effective completion before Partner/Director review.
  • Demonstrating up-to-date knowledge and application of other current US tax legislation, being able to use source legislation and the firm’s “Tax Preparer Guides” of US procedures and seeking out opportunities to advance that knowledge.
  • Providing technical guidance to staff and resolving major technical problems when instructed by clients.
  • Contributing ideas to the team’s technical Partner/Director and, when required, writing technical notices.
  • Supporting, where needed, in the growth of the team, by assisting in client pitch presentations.
  • Mentoring more junior members of the team, monitoring their work and progress and helping to resolve any problems and difficulties encountered.
  • Taking responsibility for the quality of work prepared by junior team members and ensuring that service standards are maintained at the level required by the team and the firm.

You are the right person for the role if you:

  • Have Dual handler (Enrolled Agent/ATT) qualifications.
  • Have experience of preparing, reviewing and filing UK and US tax returns.
  • Have demonstrated application of management skills, including formal or informal coaching and mentoring experience.
  • Have experience with MS Office suite, as well as proficiency in UK and US tax software.
  • Have willingness and ability to share knowledge and best practice.
