About us
At Buzzacott, we’re an independent and growing professional services firm based in the City of London, with a satellite office in Hong Kong. Partner‑led and people‑focused, we deliver market‑leading expertise and exceptional service across a variety of sectors. We’ve evolved from being just accountants to trusted advisers, building lasting relationships with our clients while fostering a supportive and collaborative culture within our teams.

Team Overview
Our Private Client team consists of around 35 team members and 4 partners – each with their own specialism. The core of the work focuses on providing clear and practical advice to high‑net‑worth individuals and their families in the UK and abroad. We assess the opportunities available to our clients, helping to structure their affairs to minimise their tax liability and preserve their property for future generations.

Role Overview
Services provided to our clients range from a full service where we provide trust management as well as the preparation of the trust accounts and the trust tax returns, to tax returns only and ad‑hoc advice when requested. The team has a strong focus on providing advice to beneficiaries/settlors and trustees of non‑UK trusts where there is a UK resident beneficiary and they require assistance in reporting the trust distributions on their tax returns. We also provide a wide range of services to clients dealing with the administration of an estate including probate applications. The main duties of the role will be to manage and grow a portfolio of trust and estate administration clients which include both UK based and non‑UK resident trusts/estates. Many of our clients have an international focus and we work closely with advisors in other jurisdictions. The role also requires daily, flexible, proactive support to the Partners and Directors, contributing to the efficiency of the team and assisting with training more junior members. The role requires a reliable person who demonstrates a genuine interest in furthering their career in tax, shows a commitment to self‑development and an interest in learning from, and supporting, the team.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Review of the trust/estate accounts and tax returns which have been prepared by the junior team members
  • Review of Inheritance Tax 10‑year anniversary charges and exit charges
  • Correspond with trustees, personal representatives and beneficiaries regarding distributions and amounts to be reported on their tax returns
  • Ensure that clients are up to date with the details held on HMRC’s Trust Register requirements
  • Respond to queries raised by trustees/personal representatives on your client portfolio
  • Liaise with investment managers and HMRC
  • Assist the Partner/Director group with writing advisory reports for clients
  • Provide strategic tax planning advice to trustees, personal representatives and beneficiaries
  • Provide general assistance and support to the wider team, attend networking events and assist with writing articles

What We’re Looking For

  • CTA qualified (STEP would be beneficial)
  • In‑depth knowledge of UK tax legislation in relation to trusts/estates
  • Experience of working in a similar role
  • Ability to develop professional relationships across various levels
  • Excellent communication skills, both spoken and written
  • Advanced Excel, intermediate Word, Outlook and PowerPoint skills
  • Experience of working with CCH trust accounts and Digita

What You’ll Bring

  • Analytical skills and strong attention to detail
  • Ability to communicate succinctly
  • Ability to work on own initiative and as part of a team
  • Ability to develop professional relationships, be approachable, flexible, discreet and diplomatic
