The Employee Benefits team provides advice and support to employers. We’re part of a trusted team of 20 people who work closely with private clients and other teams within the Firm. Our clients are typically small to medium sized businesses and not-for-profit organisations based in the UK, and many have an overseas head office/parent in the USA or Europe. Each of our clients have different needs, but overall, they are looking for advice and competitively priced employee benefit solutions that meet their needs and help them to attract, reward and incentivise their employees. We provide workplace pension advice to the majority of our clients, and for many, we operate a more comprehensive service that includes advice and administration of their group risk, medical, health, travel and voluntary benefits, and support with their employee communications.
Role Overview
To provide quality and efficient support in the administrative, technical and client servicing areas. To assist the Employee Benefits team members in managing our relationships with, and the services delivered to, our clients. The role offers the potential for development over time through a career path towards an advisory or other more senior role.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Provide general administrative and technical support to the Employee Benefits team.
- Obtain quotes and associated information from providers, check the terms and conditions, collate and prepare accurate summaries of the data.
- Keep providers updated with relevant client changes.
- Maintain relationships with product providers and understand their propositions.
- Ability and tenacity to seek the answers or outcome needed if responses are incomplete or delayed.
- Understand and utilise our internal systems.
- Ensure accuracy and timely updates of client information on all relevant systems, and provide reporting as required.
- Arrange meetings with existing and new clients as needed for the Associate Director.
- Take an interest in the affairs of, and get to know the clients, to be aware of work currently in progress and act as a first point of contact for our clients.
- Speak with clients on video calls and develop rapport; communicate professionally with them by email; act as a ‘trouble‑shooter’ in sorting out client related problems.
- Undertake research and prepare drafts of technical reports in the style required by the author or as required to meet the Firm’s standards.
- Contribute to and take an active part in project work within the team and provide input as and when required to help to constantly improve processes and the service provided.
- Process new business, submit details to appropriate companies and ensure appropriate filing and records are maintained on Xplan and other systems.
- Commit to taking suitable and relevant professional exams (exam type, syllabus and timescales to be agreed depending on current knowledge) and to developing technical knowledge.
Skills and Experience
- Minimum of 3 A Levels or equivalent GCSE (x5) including English and Maths at grade B (level 6) or equivalent Degree qualification or similar.
- Good knowledge of MS Office applications.
- Strong organisational skills, excellent communication skills, ability to deal with people at all levels.
- Strong attention to detail in order to accurately maintain records and produce clear and detailed research.
- Team player, works well under pressure, proactive, quick learner, flexible, approachable.
- Strong initiative for managing own progression and developing through the available career path.
- Enthusiastic manner with a desire to learn quickly through ‘on the job’ experience and by seeking information from team members, providers and through self‑study.
- Experience of working in an employee benefits consultancy or insurance company dealing with employee benefits.
- Experience of working with corporate clients accustomed to a high quality of service (ideally at least 2-3 years’ experience).
- Experience with one or more of the following: employer pensions, group risk insurance, private medical insurance and other employee benefits products.
- Experience of producing PowerPoint presentations and a good knowledge of Excel.
