Team Overview
We’re an approximately 70-strong division of the firm’s Business Services team and we’re dedicated to providing the full complement of outsourced services that covers accounting and other administrative functions such as management accounting, financial statements, VAT and regulatory reporting for clients in the finance sector.
Role Overview
To provide a quality professional service within the FCA regulatory reporting and advisory team which is part of the Business Services Group.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Facilitate the preparation of periodic returns for FCA regulated clients
- Carry out all work, including planning, executing, completing and producing a client‑ready product
- Liaise with clients in your portfolio and act as the primary point of contact
- Understand the technical rules and regulations and apply these to the FCA reporting requirements of a range of FCA regulated firms and to stay abreast of on‑going regulatory updates
- Prepare underlying calculations to support regulatory returns from internally and externally produced accounting information / other relevant data
- Provide general accounting and professional services assistance to clients in the preparation of regulatory returns, for example monitoring capital adequacy from underlying accounting information
- Recommend improvements to the clients’ systems and controls and assist clients on an on‑going basis
- Assist clients with preparation of financial and capital adequacy forecasts as part of their regulatory compliance obligations
- Provide ad hoc advisory services to the Firm’s financial services sector clients as the need arises.
Assignments
- Interpret financial statements, particularly in the context of the regulatory reporting framework
- Organise and run every assignment as effectively and as efficiently as possible, in accordance with professional and ethical standards and ensuring effective completion before manager/partner review
- Set up and plan assignments to the degree agreed with the respective manager
- Supervise and review the work of junior members of the team, providing constructive feedback and support as necessary, including preparation of formal review forms (where required by the team’s feedback systems)
- Keep costs within budget wherever possible and report to the manager/partner as soon as agreed time/budget appear to be compromised
- Understand the specification of the assignment agreed with the client and report immediately to manager (or partner) if and when this specification may need to be changed
- Assist in the administration of the Business Services Group as and when requested and when time allows.
What We’re Looking For
- 3 A-levels (or equivalent – with a minimum of 120 UCAS points)
- Good GCSE results with a minimum of grade B/level 6 in GCSE Maths and English (or equivalent)
- ACA/ACCA qualified, or equivalent
- Experience of working within a practice
- Excellent knowledge of UK accounting standards
- Experience of preparing statutory and/or management accounts including cash‑flows
- Ability to review a file and junior team members’ work
- Client relationship skills
- Able to communicate effectively and clearly both verbally and in writing
- Excel (Intermediate to Advanced), Word and Outlook
- Knowledge of IFRS (desirable)
- Experience of financial forecasting (desirable)
- Knowledge of FCA regulations and regulatory reporting in non‑UK jurisdictions (desirable)
- Advanced Excel skills (desirable)
