Team Overview

The CASS Assurance team, which forms part of Buzzacott’s wider Corporate Assurance team, is a rapidly growing and ambitious team.

We work with a wide range of businesses across the financial services sector including trading/investment platforms, stockbrokers, fund managers, wealth managers, debt management firms, payments/e-money firms and insurance brokers, all of which hold money and/or assets on behalf of their customers.

We perform an independent check on whether our client’s systems, and controls for the safeguarding of their customers’ money and/or assets, enable it to comply with a defined set of (CASS) rules.

Role Overview

In addition to providing quality auditing services to clients and working towards becoming an expert in the CASS rules, you will study towards becoming an Associate Chartered Accountant (ACA).

Studying towards this professional qualification, as well as learning from our team of specialists on a daily basis, ensures you are well equipped with the knowledge to help advance you through your career.

As a small and fast-moving team, this role is expected to evolve as our offering expands.

The pace and direction of your development will depend on your strengths, interests, and the needs of the business.

Training consists of a combination of courses at the tutors’ offices, private study and regular exams, as well as on-the-job training.

You will have paid study leave to support you in the run up to exams and all course and exam fees are paid for.

  • What You’ll Be Doing
  • Carry out audit work, including setting up and completing audit files, in compliance with the firm’s methodology.
  • Learn how to document an understanding of a firm’s business model as well as key systems and controls (including the use of IT) in relation to the safeguarding of client money/assets.
  • Assist with drafting letters and reports – to the client and to the UK’s financial regulator (the FCA).
  • Identify weaknesses in clients’ CASS systems and controls and elevate them to Seniors/Managers.
  • Keep Seniors, Managers, Directors and Partners informed of the progress of the team’s jobs.
  • Liaise with statutory audit teams as appropriate.
  • Provide technical support to the CASS Assurance team and its clients in investigating defined issues with support from Seniors, Managers, Directors and Partners in the team.
  • Assist in the administration of the CASS Assurance team as requested and when time allows.
  • Be proactive and take responsibility for becoming fully familiar and confident with all the firm’s IT policies and procedures, ensuring full compliance and helping to promote these policies within the firm.

  • Minimum 2:1 Degree
  • Minimum 144 UCAS tariff points from 3 A-levels, or equivalent (excluding General Studies)
  • Minimum Level 7 in GCSE Maths, or equivalent
  • The right to work in the UK without restrictions for the duration of the training contract
