We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced and highly organised Head of Production to join our senior leadership team and play a key role in delivering high-quality content across multiple platforms.
Reporting into the Managing Director, this is a fantastic role for someone with a deep understanding of the sports media landscape, proven experience leading production teams, and a calm, solutions-focused approach.
The appointed candidate will be a decisive and considered decision maker, who approaches and solves problems in a creative and pragmatic manner. They will be a first-class enabler of colleagues, who can think in a dynamic and positive way to allow creative and operational teams to thrive.
Crucially, the successful candidate will have excellent people skills and will empower and develop those around them. They will be a natural leader, who can contribute to Buzz 16’s inclusive and positive company culture and will have proven experience of building and managing harmonious and successful teams.
What you’ll be doing…
- Working closely with key internal and external stakeholders to deliver all of our productions on time, on budget and to the best possible standards.
- Leading and mentoring the production team, supporting career development and building a strong culture of collaboration and accountability.
- Negotiating and overseeing deals to ensure that optimal terms are agreed with streamers, broadcasters, co-pro partners, contributors etc.
- Managing production budgets effectively, optimising resources to maximise output whilst controlling costs.
- Handling major negotiations with production finance, business affairs, agents, talent, and other partners and managing the associated relationships successfully.
- Supporting company growth, workflow improvements and a strong team culture.
- Ensuring compliance with editorial, legal and H&S standards across all output.
- Championing sustainable and inclusive production practices.
- Contributing to the continued development of operational and financial strategy linked to Buzz 16's long-term multi-platform content goals – highlighting and mitigating areas of risk along the way.
- Overseeing multiple productions at various stages, from planning to delivery, ensuring consistency and efficiency at scale.
- Thinking commercially and taking an innovative and entrepreneurial approach to deals and IP exploitation.
- Being jointly accountable with senior editorial colleagues for driving efficient and effective deployment of approved technologies on productions.
Who you are:
- You have a senior background in production management, having successfully managed the production and delivery of large-scale programming for a breadth of broadcasters and streamers.
- You are deeply experienced at writing and interrogating large production budgets, with an eye for maximising efficiencies and profit margins.
- You have a solid understanding of end-to-end production workflows, from pre to post, across live and non-live formats.
- You have a strong record of problem solving, working closely with the editorial teams and thinking laterally around issues that arise throughout the production process.
- You are highly organised and thrive whilst multi-tasking and juggling a varied and evolving workload.
- You have worked closely with highly ambitious creative teams, with a proven track record of getting the most from them and ensuring that they feel fully empowered.
- You have excellent communication skills and are approachable, using empathy and confidence to connect with and inspire those around them.
- You are comfortable working in a fast-paced, ever-changing environment.
- You have a track record of identifying, nurturing and growing talent; and contributing to an inclusive, positive company ethos.
- You have a passion for sport, storytelling and the evolving media landscape.
