A hairdressing apprenticeship combines practical salon experience with formal training to develop the skills and knowledge required to become a qualified hairdresser. Training covers consultations, cutting, colouring, styling, client care, health and safety, and professional salon standards. It can be an immediate start.

The apprentice’s main day-to-day duties will include:
- Assisting stylists with their clients
- Mixing colour under supervision
- Shampooing clients
- Making refreshments
- Maintaining high standards of cleanliness and general housekeeping throughout the salon
Once the apprentice has successfully completed their colour unit and demonstrated the required knowledge and competence, they will begin applying colour to clients’ hair under the guidance and assistance of experienced stylists.
On successful completion of the qualification and End Point Assessment (EPA), the apprentice can progress towards a qualified stylist role, subject to the salon’s staffing needs and a formal review.
