Overview
Our client is a 20‑year‑old young lady with Cerebral Palsy who requires support to live independently within her own home. She has a cheeky, bubbly personality and enjoys positive interactions with those around her. She responds well to support workers who are fun, engaging and able to build a trusting relationship while maintaining a calm and supportive approach. She attends Sense Day Centre Monday to Friday and engages in a multi‑disciplinary approach in active brain rehabilitation.
A key part of this role will be to follow care plans and programmes set by outside professionals in the client’s best interest. Our client particularly enjoys sensory experiences, listening to music, watching films and attending theatre where possible. The successful support worker will be encouraged to help her access these interests both at home and in the community, promoting enjoyment, engagement and independence through meaningful activities.
A good sense of humour and a warm, encouraging manner will be important in helping her feel comfortable and confident. While she enjoys interaction and shared activities, it is equally important that the support worker can recognise when she requires time and space to herself. The successful candidate should be able to read her cues, respect her need for downtime, and support her to access quiet, calming activities or environments when needed.
You will be warm, patient, and reliable, have excellent communication skills and maintain a consistent and proactive approach, whilst being flexible, reliable and enthusiastic, and will encourage and support our client to access all possible opportunities available to her. This role is subject to an Enhanced level DBS check. Full induction and training will be provided.
