We are seeking a process-driven and technically proficient Finance Operations Manager to oversee and continuously enhance our organisation's accounting function. As our business has expanded in size and complexity, we require an individual who can maintain and strengthen financial controls, drive process improvements, and lead the development of our finance team. This role extends beyond financial reporting.
The ideal candidate will have extensive experience managing the operational aspects of a finance function within a high-volume, complex system environment. To succeed in this role, the candidate must demonstrate expertise in streamlining processes, implementing change, improving financial controls, managing cash flow, debtor and creditor ledgers, and developing talent within finance teams.
Key Responsibilities:- Oversee key day-to-day operational financial processes, including Treasury, Purchase Ledger, Sales Ledger, general financial administration, and related tasks.
- Identify and implement process improvements, including automation.
- Manage daily cash flow, forecasting, and approval of large sales orders and purchase ledger transactions.
- Maintain and implement financial reporting systems to ensure compliance with regulations and legislation.
- Collaborate with the Financial Reporting Manager to ensure timely and accurate recording of financial transactions, facilitating an efficient monthly reporting cycle.
- Conduct detailed financial reviews to identify discrepancies and ensure accuracy.
- Work closely with auditors to maintain full compliance with all regulatory requirements.
- Lead, motivate, and develop finance team members by providing clear role definition and constructive feedback.
- Manage annual insurance renewals, ongoing policy administration, and vehicle fleet incident reporting.
- Support and participate in cross-departmental projects as required.
- Foster strong relationships with key internal stakeholders, ensuring effective collaboration.
- Undertake ad-hoc analysis to support Finance, senior management, and the Board of Directors.
As a large and complex business with a turnover approaching £400m, this role demands the ability to handle a high volume of transactions while reinforcing robust financial processes and internal controls. Strong Excel skills and the ability to adapt to multiple systems. Proven experience in identifying and implementing system and process changes. Experience managing an offshore team would be advantageous. A positive approach to change and the flexibility to respond swiftly in a fast-paced business environment.
Qualifications & Experience:Qualified by experience or a professionally qualified accountant (CIMA / ACCA / ACA). Significant experience in a retail environment or other relevant experience within a high-volume, product-based online or e-commerce business. Strong financial and technical skills. Familiarity with Microsoft Navision is desirable.
