The predicted salary is between 36000 - 60000 £ per year.
We have an exciting opportunity within our department. You will be working alongside a passionate and motivated team to utilise specialist knowledge and experience in rheumatology and musculoskeletal medicine, supporting patients with physical, emotional and social needs. This is for 2 part time roles equating to 1.33 whole time equivalent. Hours to be agreed with the successful candidates.
Responsibilities
- Under direction of the Lead Rheumatology Specialist Nurse, deliver specialist nursing care to a defined caseload of patients, acting as the patient advocate.
- Provide advice and support to junior staff and learners in all aspects of delivering high-quality care.
- Provide support, advice and education to patients and significant others in the management of their care.
- Following induction and training, work autonomously with patients via face-to-face clinics.
- Assess, advise and counsel patients who require treatment with disease-modifying anti-rheumatic drugs (including biological therapies).
- Recognise and action management plans for abnormal blood results related to monitoring patients on disease-modifying anti-rheumatic drugs using Trust IT systems.
- Answer patient queries to the Rheumatology telephone helpline.
- Participate in education presentations for patients and staff.
- Manage all aspects of rheumatology conditions.
- Continue professional development through CPD and undertake all mandatory training.
- Provide specialist nursing advice to colleagues and the wider MDT.
Working with Us
The Rheumatology Specialist Nursing team is based in Kitson Hall, Torbay Hospital. The team works closely with the Rheumatology Consultants and the wider MDT to provide an effective and responsive Monday to Friday service, delivering nurse-led clinics to patients with all types of rheumatology conditions.
