Do you have experience testing and inspecting healthcare decontamination equipment? Do you enjoy problem solving and using a hands-on approach in your day to day work? Join us as an Estates Technician, carrying out planned maintenance for our decontamination equipment and help us provide the best environment for patients, visitors and staff.
Main duties of the job:
- To ensure the Trust Decontamination plant operates under a robust validation program to include Weekly, Quarterly and Annual testing complying with HTM 01.
- In conjunction with the Estates and Maintenance Managers, deliver the repair and Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM) service activity for decontamination equipment and water systems to ensure compliance with statute and best practice, and customer satisfaction.
- To carry out complex/non-routine/routine mechanical/electrical work on associated services, equipment and systems, including multi-skilled working in other trades as necessary, in accordance with current regulations and legislation.
- This is a "hands-on" position, and you will require the skills to carry out planned maintenance and reactive tasks.
- This role requires some flexibility with start and finish times dependent upon clinical operational restrictions. The current shift rota is 4 days per week with 1 rolling rest day Monday - Friday or 5 days Monday - Friday.

Essential β Qualifications and training:
- BTEC/City Guilds or equivalent training to minimum level 3 and relevant experience in Decontamination equipment Validation.
Desirable:
- Specialist Knowledge/Qualification i.e., Decontamination systems, water, steam, Electrical LV, etc.
Essential β Knowledge and experience:
- Extensive practical knowledge and experience in validation of a variety of decontamination equipment from various manufacturers.
- Knowledge of all relevant legislation and technical guidance.
- Evidence of recent and relevant CPD.
- Knowledge / awareness of asbestos, water, electrical and mechanical safety.
Desirable β Knowledge:
- Knowledge of NHS Technical Guidance.
- Specialist knowledge/experience in mechanical systems - i.e. steam, water, air conditioning, ventilation.
- Knowledge of works within hospital environments.
