FibreNest, part of the BUUK Infrastructure Group, is looking for an Installation Engineer to help us earn customer loyalty and drive business growth by providing consistently excellent service.
Purpose of this role
Reporting to the Regional Manager, you will be the main on‑site presence for project delivery. You will be responsible for building and maintaining strong working relationships with Persimmon site managers, project managers, groundworkers, and contractors. You must possess an in‑depth understanding of the work programme and be empowered to make real‑time decisions that contribute to its successful delivery, including representing FibreNest effectively during high‑profile site visits and demonstrating strong stakeholder‑management skills across all field operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee all field health, safety, and wellbeing, including risk assessments, reporting, vehicle checks, and audits.
- Build and prepare the Access Network, from cabinets to customer premises (rodding, cabling, splicing, testing, commissioning, customer handover).
- Assist with installing and commissioning new street cabinets and 3rd‑party connections (planning, surveying, site visits).
- Expertly locate and repair network faults using tools such as OTDR, OPM, LFD, and VFL.
- Promote FibreNest's quality standards with Persimmon Homes and stakeholders.
- Ensure network builds meet quality, budget, and service standards through regular checks against technical specifications.
- Continuously seek to improve processes and efficiency.
- Provide excellent customer service.
- Engage with teams on live developments to ensure high standards.
- Report regularly to the Regional Manager/Supervisor on build safety and quality.
- Keep network records accurate (providing images, diagrams, test results).
- Perform other relevant duties as requested by management.
- Maintain a current DBS check as required for customer home visits.
- Hold a valid driving licence.

Experience / Knowledge
- Solid understanding of optical network construction and maintenance.
- Experience in fibre‑optic installation, splicing, and distribution.
- Good knowledge of UK telecoms networks.
