Location: Edinburgh (field based role covering Scotland and the North of England).

Purpose of this role

Field based role facilitating the maintenance and incident response for events on the OFNL network.

Your key responsibilities are:

  • Maintain and perform repair of OFNL’s active and passive network.
  • Participate in call‑out rota, attending faults or maintenance work during out‑of‑hours periods including weekends and public holidays.
  • Provide on‑site support for both Assure and Provide team functions in the Network Operations Centre.
  • Ensure work is undertaken to a high standard of safety and technical quality following method statements, procedures and safety instructions.
  • Attend broadband, telephone and TV reception service faults in customer premises.
  • Act as first responder to OFNL incidents in your region.
  • Diagnose on‑site faults, identify root cause and implement fixes in accordance with the Service Level Agreement.
  • Perform periodic maintenance of network assets as required.
  • Wear relevant PPE at all times.
  • Complete all relevant paperwork accurately and return within the communicated timeframe.
  • Perform optic fibre repair – customer facing single‑handed work in customer premises and off‑site in the Openreach underground access network (confined spaces).

Qualifications

  • CSCS card.

Experience / Knowledge

  • Experience of FTTH networks.
  • Use of an OTDR tester and ability to analyse results.

Abilities / Skills

  • Self‑motivated and enthusiastic.
