We are looking for an IT Senior Project Manager who would like to help us reach our mission to earn customer loyalty and drive business growth by providing consistently excellent service. This role can be based at our Woolpit or Cardiff office.

Purpose of this role:

  • Defining, planning, executing, and closing complex IT projects within our organisation.
  • Working closely with cross-functional teams to ensure successful project delivery whilst adhering to agreed timelines and budgets.

Your key responsibilities are:

  • Define project scope, objectives and deliverables.
  • Develop detailed project plans, including but not limited to key activities, tasks, timelines and resource allocation.
  • Direct and manage cross-functional teams and oversee the planning, implementation, and completion of complex projects while ensuring alignment with company goals and objectives.
  • Ensure timely resource allocation to key deliverables to enable the plan to remain on target.
  • Securing the provision of resources needed for projects from internal and/or external providers.
  • Agreeing contracts for the provision of goods and/or services, monitoring compliance and managing variances.
  • Conduct comprehensive risk assessments and develop robust mitigation strategies to proactively manage and minimize project risks.
  • Manage clear and effective open communication channels with the project sponsor, stakeholders, team members and senior leadership.
  • Provide comprehensive project status reports to stakeholders, highlighting key milestones, risks, and dependencies.
  • Ensure that project deliverables meet quality standards and user requirement specifications.
  • Work with the project team to ensure traceability, quality checks and testing is completed and evidenced as necessary.
  • Develop and manage project budgets, track expenditures, and ensure financial objectives are met.
  • Take proactive measures to keep projects within budgetary constraints.
  • Manage changes to scope and budgetary impacts proactively under change control for audit purposes.
  • Track project phases, timelines, and milestones.
  • Take corrective actions to address deviations and ensure on time project completion.
  • Establish and maintain governance arrangements for the delivery of projects, defining clear roles, responsibilities and accountabilities, that align with organisational practice, utilising such artefacts as business case, PID, plans, reports and documentation of decisions and changes.
  • Lead the development of comprehensive stakeholder management strategies and plans.
  • Identify key business stakeholders and assess their levels of power and interest and their perspectives to inform the way(s) in which they should be considered and managed.
  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to ensure timely decision making, effective buy in for requirements definition, issue resolution / escalation and ensure project alignment with organisational goals.
  • Preparing, gaining approval of, refining and updating business cases that justify projects in terms of benefits, costs and risks.
  • Identifying, defining, evaluating, planning, tracking and realising the business benefits of programmes (and/or the projects within them).
  • Ensure the successful transition of new or change services into Live Operations teams including deployment planning, cutover and rollback strategies.
  • Plan service / data migration as appropriate.
  • Mentor and coach junior project management staff, fostering their professional growth and development.
  • Empowering and inspiring others to deliver successful projects.

Qualifications:

  • Proven experience as an IT Project Manager, with a successful track record of defining, planning, executing, and closing complex IT projects and programmes of work within our organisation.
  • Experience in mentoring junior project managers.
  • Business case development.

Experience/Knowledge:

  • Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
  • Proficiency in project management software and tools.
  • Ability to adapt to changing priorities and work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong organisational skills.

Abilities/Skills:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • Near / Offshore supplier management.
  • RFI / RFP supplier selection process.
  • Knowledge of IT infrastructure, systems, and technologies.
