We are looking for an Apprentice - Water Engineer who would like to help us reach our mission to “earn customer loyalty and drive business growth by providing consistently excellent service”.

Purpose of this role

To support the design assessment for Independent Water Networks Ltd (IWNL), modelling review and inspection of the water and wastewater distribution networks and off-site points of supply and discharge. The apprentice shall work towards a degree in Civil Engineering with a local provider.

Your Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct technical assessments of wastewater infrastructure designs and provide on-site supervision where required.
  • Support the adoption of water, surface water, and wastewater networks.
  • Ensure all assets are designed, installed, and maintained in line with industry standards and best practices.
  • Respond to project delivery queries and provide timely technical support.
  • Coordinate with water companies to confirm points of connection and discharge, ensuring alignment with designers, developers, and incumbents within agreed timescales.
  • Maintain compliance with Water Industry Regulations, company policies, British and International standards, codes of practice, and safety procedures.
  • Identify and implement innovative technologies to deliver operational and financial benefits.
  • Undertake additional duties as required within the scope of experience and business needs.

Qualifications

  • 112 UCAS points (or above)
  • A Level: BBC to include Mathematics and a numerate subject such as Physics, Chemistry, Biology or Geography
  • Five GCSEs including Maths & English at grade C/4

Experience/Knowledge

  • Working as part of a team.

Abilities/Skills

  • Willingness to learn and undertake required training modules.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Attention to detail with good problem-solving ability.

Conditions of Employment

  • You are required to have your criminal records checked through the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS). This is due to going into customers’ homes.
  • You will hold a driving licence or be in the process of obtaining one.
