GTC, part of the BUUK Infrastructure Group, is looking for a MU Nominated Design Engineer to help us reach our mission of earning customer loyalty and driving business growth by providing consistently excellent service.

Responsibilities

  • Produce and/or oversee the production of off‑site/enabling utility designs (HV/LV/Gas/Water/Fibre) for new project awards.
  • Work with the regional post‑award team, Senior Project Manager and Programme Lead to deliver excellent customer service and ensure projects progress to energisation.
  • Provide structured hand‑over of projects in your portfolio to the onsite MU designer, in line with the project programme.
  • Review off‑site video/site‑wide survey to produce an off‑site design fit for construction, including areas where trial holes may be required.
  • Ensure compliance with CDM regulations / NRSWA for assessment of physical works.
  • Identify any third‑party land rights required or section 58 and 85 restrictions for the works.
  • Attend internal post‑award tendering handover meetings with the core team within the assigned region.
  • Attend external post‑award meetings with customers, discussing off‑site utility designs and defining/agreeing the scope of any onsite work required.
  • Produce design work aligned with customer requirements, as agreed at the initial meeting and reflected in the project programme.
  • Collaborate with subject matter experts in the wider design team to ensure network designs comply with relevant legislation and standards.
  • Obtain design proficiency in all utilities offered by GTC.
  • Any other duties as required by the manager.
  • A valid driving licence is required.

Qualifications

  • Experience in the design of gas, water, electric, fibre, and heat networks.
  • Experience designing off‑site utilities for new housing/mixed‑use developments.
  • Knowledge of health and safety legislation.
  • Knowledge of CDM Regulations.
  • Excellent communication skills with emphasis on the ability to translate technical requirements into a project design.
  • Degree in Engineering or equivalent.
  • Planned C&G L2 Electrical Power Engineering qualification.
  • Ability to use Microsoft Office programmes.
