GTC, part of the BUUK Infrastructure Group, are looking for a MU Nominated Design Engineer who would like to help us reach our mission to earn customer loyalty and drive business growth by providing consistently excellent service.
Purpose of this role:
- Liaise with upstream network operators to design offsite infrastructure for new project awards.
Your key responsibilities are:
- Responsible for producing and/or overseeing the production of offsite/enabling utility designs for new project awards to GTC (HV/LV/Gas/Water and Fibre).
- Work with the regional post award team, the Senior Project Manager and the Programme Lead, to deliver excellent customer service and ensure projects progress through to energisation.
- Provide a structured handover of the projects in your portfolio to the onsite MU designer appointed to the project in line with the project programme.
- Review off site video/site wide survey to produce an off-site design fit for construction including areas where trial holes may be required for the works to be completed.
- Compliance with CDM regulations/NRSWA for the assessment of the physical works.
- Identification of any third-party land rights required or section 58 and 85 restrictions for the works.
- Attend internal post-award tendering handover meetings with the core team within the assigned region.
- Attend external post-award meetings with the customers, discussing the offsite utility designs and defining and agreeing the scope of any onsite work required including (but not restricted to substation locations/OSCP locations/Water Meter and any other plant required to facilitate the works.
- Producing design work aligned with the customer requirements as agreed at the initial meeting and reflected in the project program.
- Liaise with subject matter experts in the wider Design team to ensure that all network designs are compliant with relevant legislation and standards.
- Obtain design proficiency in all utilities which GTC offers.
- Any other duties as required by the manager.
Experience/Knowledge:
- Experience in the design of one of gas, water, electric, fibre, and heat networks.
- Experience in designing offsite utilities for new housing/mixed-use developments.
- Knowledge of health and safety legislation.
- Knowledge of CDM Regulations.
Abilities/Skills:
- Excellent communication skills with emphasis on the ability to translate technical requirements into a project design.
Desirable:
- Degree in Engineering Subject or equivalent.
- C&G L2 Electrical Power Engineering.
- Experience in the design of gas, water, electric, fibre, and heat networks.
- Ability to use Microsoft Office programmes.
