Purpose of this role

Responsible for the delivery of a portfolio of major projects. Ensure projects are delivered in line with the customers timescales, to the required budget whilst ensuring a high level of customer satisfaction. Responsible for managing the logistics for the region and ensuring waste is minimised.

Your key responsibilities are:

  • Assist the RCM on promoting a positive and proactive safety culture among project management employees, engineering teams and contractors.
  • Assist in instilling and maintaining our behavioural safety culture and progression along the ‘Bradley Curve’.
  • Take responsibility for the delivery of a portfolio of Major Projects.
  • Ensure networks are built correctly, fit for purpose and within company procedures, guidelines, standards, and policies.
  • Liaise with the clients, Project Managers, and all stakeholders regarding off-site works to ensure networks are commissioned in line with our customers’ requirements.
  • Accountable for the provision of excellent Customer Service, ensuring this is always delivered and that the CES score remains at or below departmental target.
  • Assist the sales team as required to help acquire new contracts.
  • Manage the relationships with our major project customers and ensure networks are installed and commissioned in line with customers’ timescales and that customer satisfaction is maintained or enhanced.
  • Liaise with the procurement team in arranging bespoke contracts for agreed elements of the project where necessary.
  • Liaise with customers, GTC departments and other third parties through the life cycle of the projects.
  • Assist the Regional Construction Manager with recruitment and induction of new engineering teams, ensuring full compliance with Group recruitment procedures.
  • Assist the Regional Construction Manager and Head of Construction with the training program for the development of construction teams.
  • Manage and mentor Project Managers and new Project Managers across the region.
  • Liaise with and manage off and on-site contractors including authorisation of payments.
  • Monitor and manage network construction standards and address any non-conformances.
  • Assist the RCM with HR related matters.
  • Assist in ensuring accreditations such GIRS, WIRS, NERS, MURS, Gas Safe, OAMI are maintained.
  • Any other duties as deemed appropriate by the Head of Construction or UK Construction Director that fall within the general experience scope of the individual.

Qualifications

Suitable recognised engineering qualification and preferably be an engineering technician registered with an appropriate engineering institution or working towards registration.

Experience / Knowledge

Must have had significant experience in similar work. Must have a working knowledge of current legislation, technical standards & specifications, codes of practice and recommendations relating to electricity, gas, fibre, or water distribution. Previous management experience.
