The exciting stuff

Supporting the manufacturing & fulfilment facility here at Rudie’s Kitchen to ensure stock movements around the site run smoothly. Join a team recognised for quality and dedication. Competitive pay: £12.84 per hour plus a 20% shift premium (£15.41 per hour). Base salary is £27,468, with 20% (£32,961).

A bit about the role

  • While primarily a Reach Truck role within our warehouse, we are looking for a multiskilled operator who also holds a Class 1 license to perform shunting duties as required.
  • Primary Duty: Operate mechanical handling equipment: Reach Truck (essential), counterbalance, and ride-on forklift trucks.
  • Shunting Duty: Safe movement of vehicles and trailers at Rudie’s Kitchen, Ace's Pantry, and the adjoining public road. Includes manoeuvring LGVs or trailer units into storage or loading bays.
  • Work in a safe way following all appropriate safety procedures and wearing protective equipment correctly at all times.
  • Conduct quality checks to ensure we meet product specifications.
  • Stock count and systems transactions.
  • General facility hygiene – floors, walls and conveyors; work in a manner that epitomises ‘clean as you go’.
  • Other general tasks such as waste processing, order packing, etc.
  • Work to relevant standards and Key Performance Indicators.
  • Occasional attendance and contribution at daily review meetings and regular attendance/contribution at warehouse performance reviews.

Contract & hours

This is a full-time permanent contract with a rolling average of 41 hours per week, on a shift rotation with days/nights and some weekend work. Shifts: days 7am–7pm; nights 7pm–7am. 4 on/4 off = 2 days, 2 nights; 5 on, 5 off = 3 days, 2 nights; 5 on, 5 off = 2 days, 3 nights.

A bit about you

  • Essential: Valid Reach Truck license and significant experience (main focus of the role).
  • Essential: Valid Class 1 (HGV Category C+E) license for shunting.
  • Experience with Counterbalance, PPT, or LLOP is highly desirable.
  • Confident with warehouse IT equipment.
  • Comfortable in temperatures as low as -40°C and with outdoor yard work.
  • Adaptable to changing work environment with varied roles.
  • English speaking and reading ability; numerate.
  • Comfortable in a chilled environment and in environments processing raw protein.
  • Committed to food quality & safety; collaborative team member.
