About the Position
Join the paw-some team at Rud’s Kitchen, part of Butternut Box, where we cook up tails of success and wagging tails 🐾. We\’re looking for hardworking dog lovers (and animals) to join our manufacturing team in Blyth, Doncaster. This role is typically known as a Machine Operator / Machine Technician / Manufacturing Technician, but we call it a Skilled Operator.
Wages & Hours
Competitive hourly wage of £12.84 plus a 10% shift premium (£14.12). Base salary is £27,468 with a 10% increase (£30,215) for overtime. This is a full‑time permanent contract with a rolling average of 41 hours per week on a shift rotation that includes a mix of days and some weekend working. Regular shift days are 7 am–7 pm.
Key Responsibilities
- Be fully trained to operate a variety of machines such as our case erector, case sealer and PPT’s
- Unpack, pack, load and unload boxes and finished goods, monitoring the fulfilment lines
- Lead by example, acting as a role model for the general operators
- Complete general tasks such as waste processing and order packing
- Work to relevant standards and Key Performance Indicators
- Work in a safe way following all appropriate safety procedures and wearing protective equipment correctly at all times
- Maintain general facility hygiene – floors, walls and conveyors
- Be humble in work duties, being open to jump in the production area or carry out warehouse duties to help the wider team
- Conduct quality checks ensuring that we meet product specifications
- Previous machine operative experience in a food fulfilment environment is desirable
- Strong knowledge of heavy‑duty and high‑speed machinery
- Excellent knowledge of safety methods and hazard regulations
- Working level of speaking English
- Ability to read English
- Numerate (able to understand and work with numbers)
- Comfortable working in a chilled environment
- Comfortable working in an environment that processes raw protein (lamb, pork, turkey, chicken)
