We're looking for a Head of Marketing to lead the next chapter of Butternut Box's journey in the UK & Ireland. This is our home market and the beating heart of our business, so the opportunity (and the responsibility) is huge.
You’ll be the strategic leader driving subscriber acquisition and lifetime value across the region. That means owning our growth marketing targets, budgets, and performance levers - from CAC and paybacks to full funnel strategies and new channel innovation. You’ll shape how we tell our story, where we show up, and how we connect with dog parents so that more and more families discover the benefits of fresh dog food. You’ll oversee our digital, referral, TV and partnership growth engines whilst working cross-functionally with brilliant teams in Data Science, Brand, Creative, CRM, Retail, and Product Engineering to deliver on ambitious targets. You’ll foster a culture of experimentation and creative excellence, always balancing the need for short-term wins with a long-term vision.
This role reports into the UK&I Managing Director and will collaborate closely with our global growth leadership team. You’ll also nurture a high-performing, collaborative, multidisciplinary team, providing strategic direction and ensuring functional excellence.
Please note that we work hybrid from our West London office - 3 days in (Monday, Wednesday & Thursday), 2 days from home (Tuesday & Friday).
A bit more detail:
- Lead growth at scale: Own the UK&I growth strategy, managing multi-million pound budgets, forecasting, and ensuring we hit ambitious acquisition and LTV targets towards becoming the #1 dog food brand in the UK.
- Advance our digital performance engine: Optimise Paid Search, Paid Social, SEO, LLMEO and emerging platforms. Drive performance from upper funnel activity through to conversion, with a clear focus on marketing efficiency and incrementality to drive profitability.
- Evolve creative effectiveness: Partner with our in-house Creative Studio; creator partnerships and agencies to ensure our creative is insight-driven, distinctive, and continuously refreshed for impact.
- Expand beyond digital: Build and optimise referral, affiliate, influencer, and professional partnerships. Seek out new, scalable growth levers that balance performance with brand equity.
- Champion experimentation: Run a structured programme of testing across channels and customer journeys, embedding CRO, funnel analysis, and incrementality testing.
- Embed cross-functional growth: Work alongside Data Science, CRM, Commercial; Retail and Product to make sure growth strategies are connected to customer experience and commercial outcomes.
- Develop future leaders: Manage, mentor and inspire a high-performing growth team, fostering innovation, accountability and commercial effectiveness.
A bit about you:
- You’ve led growth or marketing in a high-growth, DTC or subscription business.
- You’re commercially sharp, highly data-literate, comfortable managing multi-million-pound budgets, and confident making trade-offs between growth, efficiency, and long-term LTV.
- You bring deep experience across digital marketing, CRM, affiliate/influencer marketing, conversion rate optimisation, bonus for omni-retail and offline growth. You know how to optimise channel mix.
- You’re fluent in incrementality testing, attribution, and how to extract insight from complex data sets in partnership with Data Science.
- You know how to build strong, trusting relationships quickly and influence stakeholders across creative, commercial, and operational teams.
- You’ve worked within global matrix organisations and know how to balance local priorities with global alignment.
- You’re a natural leader — a great communicator, collaborator and motivator who builds trust quickly.
- You’re a great storyteller using data & insights, able to inspire your team and captivate the wider business with your vision. You care about brand as much as performance.
- You’re passionate about the Butternut Box brand.
