As a Raw Material Specialist, you will report into the Supplier Assurance Manager at both Rudie’s Kitchen and Ace’s Pantry, located near Doncaster. Your role ensures that the company quality system is operated in a controlled and effective manner, maintaining product quality from raw materials through to finished goods. You will have the freedom to make your own decisions and the opportunity for personal and professional development.

Responsibilities:

  • Goods intake inspection and assessment of protein, vegetable, and ambient stable ingredients, including Treat products, ensuring compliance with quality and food safety.
  • Coordinate and review raw material specifications.
  • Collect and book samples for microbiological and nutritional analysis.
  • Ensure daily, weekly, and monthly scheduled tasks (e.g., internal audits, GMP audits, KPI reporting, trace exercises) are completed on time and follow up on subsequent actions.
  • Support the introduction of new ingredients and suppliers through inspection and testing of samples.
  • Raise and review non-conformances, working closely with suppliers, procurement, and supply chain teams.
  • Support management of held stock (e.g., disposal, downgrade, release) in conjunction with Supply Chain and Procurement teams.
  • Monitor internal and supplier corrective actions.
  • Work safely and uphold the company’s health & safety policies.

Qualifications:

  • Experience reviewing raw material and/or finished product specifications.
  • Ability to interpret written standards, such as quality attribute sheets, and apply them to product assessment.
  • Strong communication skills, able to communicate effectively at all levels, with a conscientious and diligent attitude.
  • Flexibility, multi‑tasking ability, and ability to work well under pressure.
  • Ability to undertake manual handling and taste testing.
  • Ability to work in a chilled environment.
  • Good literacy and numeracy skills.
  • IT literate.
  • Organized and able to prioritize.
  • Inquisitive and keen to learn about new commodity groups.
  • Hungry for a challenge and keen to build something from the ground up.
