At Butternut Box, we’re on a mission to deliver health and happiness to dogs and their humans everywhere. As the European market leader in fresh dog food, we’ve built an award‑winning brand by challenging the status quo - advocating for better ingredients and a cooking method that does right by dogs. We are looking for a creative, data‑savvy, and platform‑expert Social Media Manager to join us on a maternity cover basis (min. 12 months).
Social media is a core part of our community and in many ways our shop‑face as an omni‑channel company. In this role, you’ll be a key driver of our brand’s cultural relevancy. You will be responsible for executing an organic social strategy that turns dog parents into lifelong Butternutters, with content that our audiences want to engage with, is culturally fluent and relevant, and that works with the algorithm not against it.
You’ll bring a deep understanding of our priority platforms and how organic social can fuel our broader growth goals, acting as a witty copywriter and visual storyteller.
In this role you can expect to…
- Execute the Organic Social Strategy: You’ll be the hands‑on driver of our presence across our priority channels in Instagram, TikTok, and YouTube, whilst ensuring a regular drumbeat of activity across our lower‑priority platforms.
- Identify Trends and Data‑Led Insights: You’ll use your ‘platform‑expert’ instincts to spot trends early, but you’ll use data to prove they work through testing.
- Create at the Speed of Social: Working hand‑in‑hand with our Video Content Creator, in‑house Creative Studio, and agency partners, you’ll brief, capture, critically appraise, and edit content that’s aligned to our brand & values.
- Act as a Witty Brand Guardian: You’ll craft copy that is sharp, funny, and deeply human.
- Manage the Social Ecosystem: You’ll have full oversight of our organic social presence in the UK, and support our international markets with content sharing or producing global toolkits.
- Collaborate Cross‑Functionally: You’ll work closely with the wider Brand, Creative, Marketing, and CRM teams to ensure organic social isn’t a silo.
Experienced Social Strategist: You have a proven track record of managing social media for a fast‑growth B2C or DTC brand.
Platform Expert: You have a deep, intuitive understanding of Instagram, TikTok, and YouTube especially.
Witty & Sharp Copywriter: You have a refined editorial ear; you can switch between ‘informative pet‑health expert’ and ‘a dog parent’s internet best friend’.
A Creative Catalyst: You are a natural at idea generation and social‑first thinking.
An Eye for Creative Direction & Feed Aesthetic: While you don’t need to be a professional editor, you are a skilled “mobile‑first” creator.
Commercially & Data‑Minded: You’re comfortable diving into Dash Social (or similar) to find the data and insight that matters.
An Expert Collaborator: You thrive in a cross‑functional, multi‑market environment.
For the Love of Dogs: Most importantly, you get dog people, and probably are one yourself.
A bit about what we offer:
- Equity option package
- 25 days holiday (plus 8 bank holidays), 5 paws days and an additional day every year of service
- £500 personal learning & development budget
