About the role

At Butternut Box, we’re on a mission to deliver health and happiness to dogs and their humans everywhere. As the European market leader in fresh dog food, we’ve built an award‑winning brand by challenging the status quo and advocating for better ingredients and a cooking method that does right by dogs. We are looking for a creative, data‑savvy, platform‑native Social Media Manager to join us on a maternity cover basis (minimum 12 months). Social media is a core part of our community and many ways our shop‑face as an omni‑channel company. In this role, you’ll be a key driver of our brand’s cultural relevancy.

Responsibilities

  • Execute the Organic Social strategy across Instagram, TikTok, and YouTube, ensuring a regular drumbeat of activity and that every post serves a purpose.
  • Identify trends and data‑led insights, using data to prove effectiveness and moving beyond vanity metrics.
  • Create content at the speed of social, briefing, capturing, critically appraising, and editing while maintaining brand values.
  • Act as a witty brand guardian, crafting copy that is sharp, funny, and human, leveraging the Tone of Bark.
  • Manage the social ecosystem, overseeing the UK presence and supporting international markets with content sharing and global toolkits.
  • Collaborate cross‑functionally with Brand, Creative, Marketing, and CRM teams, and external partners to amplify plans and ensure cross‑channel synergy.

About you

  • Experienced social strategist with a proven track record for fast‑growth B2C/DTC brands.
  • Platform‑native expert of Instagram, TikTok, and YouTube, with deep understanding of algorithms and SEO.
  • Witty and sharp copywriter able to toggle between informative and friendly tones.
  • Creative catalyst, adept at idea generation and social‑first thinking.
  • Eye for creative direction & feed aesthetic, skilled in mobile‑first creation tools like CapCut or Canva.
  • Commercially and data‑minded, comfortable with dashboards and testing hypotheses.
  • Expert collaborator thriving in cross‑functional, multi‑market environments.
  • Passionate about dogs and aligns with our mission.
