We’re looking for a Head of Social and Community to join the Brand & Creative team at Butternut Box. Are you passionate about social media and turning advocates into superfans? The Head of Social and Community will be responsible for defining, evolving and implementing Butternut’s social media and community vision, delivering a world‑class strategy across our established and emerging channels. This will include driving creative content and production across our paid and organic channels, and levelling up our community strategy as more pet parents turn to Fresh dog food. Butternut is growing rapidly across Europe, so in addition to leading the day‑to‑day implementation in the UK, you’ll also work with our regional teams on local social strategies as their markets mature. You’ll be leading a fantastic team of video editors and social media managers.
As our Head of Social you will own the vision, strategy and execution of our social presence, turning Butternut into the world’s most iconic dog brand across all digital communities.
Social strategy and vision- Define and own the UK and global social strategy.
- Architect a comprehensive social vision for current and emerging platforms (Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, Threads, Facebook and Reddit etc.) ensuring every interaction strengthens brand love, relevance and engagement.
- Act as the social authority within Butternut.
- Act as a respected, informed thought leader across our teams, educating stakeholders on the evolving social landscape.
- Champion new platforms and ideas that deliver measurable business KPIs across reach, engagement, conversation and conversion.
- Lead performance‑driven content delivery.
- Direct the social team in the creation, execution and scaling of paid and organic content.
- Collaborate closely with growth and performance managers to define, create, and amplify compelling upper‑funnel brand content that fuels customer acquisition and conversion across our core segments.
- Establish a culture of reporting effectiveness.
- Oversee all channel reporting, performance analytics and tooling.
- Provide regular and rigorous insights on channel health and performance to inform the strategy, ensuring a culture of data‑backed decision making across all social KPIs.
- Champion community first storytelling.
- Establish a deep, continuous feedback loop with our audience.
- Integrate real, actionable audience insights into creative development, campaign planning and brand storytelling that grows and energises our follower base, turning advocates into Butternut superfans.
- Help demonstrate and prove the commercial impact of the social and community activity and investment.
- Ensure our interactions and campaigns strengthen brand love and relevance, leveraging social media to build emotional connection with our customers, fans, and wider audiences.
- Proven track record in managing and scaling social brand channels within a fast‑paced, high‑growth environment (DTC and consumer brands an additional bonus).
- Significant experience in developing full funnel creative, including paid and organic content strategy and leading creative production both in‑house and with agencies.
- Natural communicator, confident in influencing stakeholders and leadership across multiple markets.
- A creative thinker who enjoys coming up with original, highly shareable social ideas.
- Strong ability to build, mentor, and lead the social team, driving alignment with company objectives and fostering a happy, high‑performing culture.
This team works 3 days per week from our West London office (Monday, Wednesday and Thursday) and 2 days from home. This is non negotiable, so please only apply if you’re within a reasonable commute of London.

Interview Process- Application review
- Initial call (45 minutes): Introductory chat with our Talent Partner.
- Take home task: This will be sent to you via email and will be used to understand more about your technical skills.
- Technical interview (1 hour): This will be a remote call for the team to learn more about your skills and experience.
- In person values interview (2 hours): In person interviews in our office in White City where you will meet with key stakeholders. You will be asked a blend of competency questions, values based questions and getting to know you personally.
