Role Overview
The Senior Performance Data Analyst (Mobility/Tech) plays a critical leadership role in shaping how data informs strategy, measurement, and client impact at Buttermilk. This role leads data and measurement across one of our most significant global mobility/tech accounts, acting as the primary data partner to both client and internal teams. You will own and evolve measurement frameworks, build senior client relationships, and translate complex datasets into clear, actionable insights that drive both creative and commercial outcomes. You will be expected to bring deep expertise in measurement, proactively identify opportunities to advance our data capabilities, and contribute to the agency’s broader data strategy and thought leadership.
Key Responsibilities
- Client Leadership & Partnership: Own and develop senior relationships with client‑side measurement teams (primary stakeholders) and marketing teams (secondary), aligning on methodologies, SLAs, and joint initiatives. Act as a trusted data partner to the client, confidently representing Buttermilk’s measurement approach. Lead collaboration on advanced measurement initiatives such as creative testing, uplift studies, and creator selection optimisation.
- Measurement & Framework Development: Build on existing measurement frameworks to develop line‑of‑business specific targets, KPIs, and principles, ensuring alignment to broader client objectives. Uphold and evolve best‑in‑class measurement practices, ensuring consistency, accuracy, and scalability across campaigns. Stay ahead of platform and industry changes, assessing new tools, methodologies, and data sources to advance capabilities.
- Campaign Performance & Insight Generation: Deliver and present campaign reporting that tells a clear, cohesive story of performance, learnings, and optimisation opportunities. Develop a deep understanding of client data across campaign, brand, and business levels to provide holistic measurement. Translate complex datasets into clear narratives across formats (reports, dashboards, presentations, executive summaries). Identify and extract high‑value insights (“the nuggets”) that inform both immediate optimisations and long‑term strategy.
- Cross‑Functional Collaboration: Partner closely with campaign, strategy, account, and creator teams across London and New York to maintain visibility on in‑flight activity. Establish processes that enable real‑time, data‑informed campaign optimisation. Collaborate on end‑of‑quarter and annual wrap‑ups, weaving performance data into compelling narratives.
- Process & Output Excellence: Develop scalable processes for campaign reporting, quarterly reviews, and annual summaries. Ensure consistency and efficiency in reporting outputs while maintaining a high standard of analytical rigour. Support proposal development and new business pitches with data‑driven insights and frameworks.
- Thought Leadership & Marketing: Support the development of case studies in partnership with account leadership, client stakeholders, and internal marketing teams. Contribute to external thought leadership opportunities, showcasing Buttermilk’s data and measurement expertise (subject to client approval).
Core Competencies
- Craft / Technical: Design and evolve advanced measurement frameworks that inform strategy and quantify success. Own end‑to‑end campaign analytics, ensuring accuracy, clarity, and efficiency in reporting. Apply strong technical skills across SQL, Looker Studio, Excel/Google Sheets, and (ideally) Python. Maintain deep knowledge of platform performance data across TikTok, Instagram, and YouTube.
- Business: Proactively identify opportunities to expand the role of data within the agency and client engagements. Contribute to the development of proprietary methodologies and data products. Balance analytical rigour with commercial pragmatism in a fast‑paced environment.
- Personal: Act as a senior, trusted partner across departments, confidently communicating data insights to non‑technical stakeholders. Demonstrate strong interpersonal and stakeholder management skills, particularly with senior client teams. Mentor and support junior team members, contributing to overall team development and capability building.
