Role Overview
We’re looking for a Brand & Content Manager to join Buttermilk’s in‑house brand team. This role supports how Buttermilk shows up to the world - shaping our voice, output and presence across every touchpoint. With social as a hero channel, you’ll play a key role in shaping our voice across PR, thought leadership and events, turning our thinking, work and culture into consistent, relevant and award‑winning brand output. This is a highly visible role at the heart of the business. You’ll help translate our positioning as The Creator Company into day‑to‑day output, ensuring our brand remains culturally fluent, creatively distinctive and clearly articulated - whether that’s on LinkedIn, through our Substack, in the press, or on the ground at events. You’ll report directly to the Global Head of Brand, collaborating closely with our internal studio and creative teams, external partners (including our PR agency), and senior stakeholders across the business. Supported by a modern suite of tools, you’ll bring ideas to life with pace, clarity and craft - balancing big‑picture brand thinking with hands‑on execution. This role blends creative instinct with operational skill. You’ll have a strong understanding of digital culture and platform trends, and you’re as comfortable shaping and pitching ideas as you are getting them live. You have a sharp eye for what works in feed - and beyond - and can translate what’s happening across creators, culture and the industry into a distinct Buttermilk tone. You’re a confident writer and editor, able to move seamlessly between formats, from social posts and campaign copy to press releases and Substack entries, without losing clarity or voice. Above all, you’re curious about the creator space - perhaps you already have an outlet where you write, share or explore ideas - and where it’s headed next, with a clear point of view on platforms, formats and influence.
Key Responsibilities
- Own Buttermilk’s organic social presence across LinkedIn, TikTok and Instagram
- Lead content planning, posting cadence and day‑to‑day publishing, reporting into Head of Brand to align on key cultural + agency moments
- Help shape and protect Buttermilk’s tone of voice and POV
- Identify trends and conversations relevant to the brand
- Brief designers, editors or freelancers where needed
- Track performance and continuously refine what resonates
PR & Thought Leadership
- Act as the day‑to‑day liaison with our external PR agency
- Manage asset requests, approvals, quotes, interviews and press deadlines
- Support Buttermilk’s thought leadership output, feeding ideas, writing and content into the agency Substack and wider PR activity
- Support the amplification of thought leadership across earned and owned channels
- Ensure alignment between social output, PR narratives and brand positioning
Ad‑hoc Brand Support Events
- Support Head of Brand with quarterly delivery of the MILKDROP event series - plus additional ad‑hoc, smaller scale events
- Assist with research, logistics, invites and briefing packs
Award Entries
- Draft awards entries and help collate creative, stats and results at submission time
- Maintain campaign trackers and timelines to keep delivery on track
AOB
- Support the development of creds and case studies, including image sourcing, copywriting and wider internal brand needs
- Join and contribute to brand and creative ideation sessions
- Keep internal calendars, trackers and documentation up to date
Core Competencies
- Brand judgement: You have a strong instinct for what feels right for the Buttermilk brand. You know what to push, what to polish, and what not to put into the world.
- Editorial thinking: You can turn ideas, insights and work into coherent, compelling brand output across social, PR and thought leadership.
- Platform fluency: You understand how different platforms work - culturally and practically - and how content should adapt across LinkedIn, Instagram, TikTok and beyond without losing integrity. You’re comfortable making things yourself when needed, using modern tools to move ideas from concept to publish.
- Operational rigour: You’re highly organised, reliable and can manage multiple work‑streams without sacrificing quality. You’re actively interested in the creator economy - how creators, platforms and communities intersect - and how brands can show up meaningfully within it.
Success Metrics (6 months in)
- Social channels show a clear uplift in quality, consistency and engagement
- Measurable growth in meaningful engagement across priority platforms (shares, comments, saves) - not just follower count
- Strong alignment between social, PR and thought leadership, with content delivered consistently against the marketing calendar
- Regular, high‑quality contributions to the agency Substack (from a roster of writers), with clear editorial direction and growing readership, leaning on Head of Brand for editorial direction
- PR moments and events are consistently translated into high‑performing owned content
- Internal stakeholders trust your judgement and rely on you as a central brand partner
Required Experience & Skills
- 3-4 years’ experience in brand, content or marketing roles, ideally within a creative, cultural outlet or agency
- A strong editorial eye and confidence shaping brand voice across social, content and wider brand touch points
- Comfortable creating and shaping content hands‑on, using tools like Figma (training provided) and native social editing apps
- Experience working across multiple workstreams at pace - without compromising craft or attention to detail
- Highly organised, with a natural instinct for prioritisation and planning
- Comfortable collaborating across both internal and external teams
- Culturally fluent, with a genuine interest in creators, media, fashion, beauty, lifestyle and internet culture
- Experience writing award entries is a bonus, but not a requirement
