Butler Ross are currently recruiting on behalf of our public sector client for an Assistant Procurement Manager to join their dynamic and supportive Procurement team. This is a fantastic opportunity for an individual with public sector expertise, looking to directly shape and improve procurement delivery, and the team as a whole.
This position operates on a hybrid-working basis, with only 2 days required onsite, and is offering a salary from £41,000 to £46,500.
Key Responsibilities- Lead and support a small team of Procurement Officers, providing training, mentoring, and clear direction.
- Ensure delivery of the council's procurement work programme in line with Public Procurement/Contract Regulations.
- Oversee and advise on compliant tendering procedures and re-procurement of contracts.
- Monitor procurement performance and support implementation of a new tendering system.
- Provide expert advice and guidance to colleagues across the council on procurement best practice and regulation compliance.
- Solid working knowledge of Public Contracts Regulations 2015 / Procurement Act 2023.
- Experienced in public sector procurement within a local authority or equivalent.
- Proven ability to manage and mentor staff, with excellent communication skills.
- Confident in providing professional advice to internal stakeholders across a wide range of service areas.
- Ability to manage data and performance metrics (experience with Excel a plus).
