Are you a recent graduate looking to start your career in commercial finance? This is an excellent opportunity for an ambitious, analytical and commercially minded graduate to join a growing finance function and develop into a well‑rounded Commercial Finance Analyst. Working closely with the Finance Business Partner and senior finance team, you will gain hands‑on exposure to management reporting, financial analysis, month‑end processes, business partnering and commercial decision support across a fast‑paced, multi‑site environmental engineering group.
This role would suit someone who has recently completed a degree in Accounting & Finance, Business, Economics, Mathematics or a similar discipline, and is looking to build a career towards CIMA or ACCA. Part‑qualified candidates will also be considered, but this is not essential. Graduates with CIMA or ACCA exemptions are strongly encouraged to apply, and study support will be available for the right candidate. Full UK driving licence and access to your own car are essential due to travel across company sites. Applicants must already have the right to work in the UK, as we are unable to provide visa sponsorship or support Graduate visa applications at this time. Study Support available and WFH / Hybrid.
As Graduate Commercial Finance Analyst, you will support the commercial finance team in delivering accurate financial reporting and meaningful insight to help drive business performance. You will be involved in month‑end accounting, preparing reports, analysing financial trends, supporting budget and forecast reviews, and working with operational teams to understand performance, costs, risks and opportunities. This is a fantastic role for someone who wants more than a transactional finance position. You will be given exposure to senior stakeholders, commercial projects and real business decision‑making from early in your career.
Key Responsibilities- Support month‑end processes including accruals, prepayments, revenue recognition and variance analysis
- Assist with the preparation of monthly management information and finance reports
- Analyse financial performance, trends, risks and opportunities across the division
- Support the Finance Business Partner with commercial insight and decision‑making
- Help review cost structures and identify potential efficiencies or savings
- Work closely with operational teams to improve financial processes and reporting
- Support project reporting, aged WIP analysis, invoicing and aged debt reviews
- Assist with ad hoc analysis and continuous improvement projects across finance
We are looking for someone bright, curious and motivated who wants to develop a long‑term career in finance. You may be a recent graduate, an early‑stage finance professional, or someone with some finance experience who is now looking to move into a more analytical and commercial role. You will ideally have:
- A degree in Accounting & Finance, Business, Economics, Mathematics or a related subject
- A genuine interest in commercial finance, analysis and business performance
- Strong Excel skills and confidence working with data
- Good attention to detail and accuracy
- Strong communication skills and the confidence to build relationships outside finance
- A proactive, can‑do attitude and willingness to learn
