Butler Rose is exclusively recruiting a Financial Controller (12-month maternity cover) for a unique and well-established business based in Somerset. This is a fully site-based position, offering a fantastic opportunity for an experienced and commercially minded finance professional to take on a key leadership role within a fast-paced and diverse organisation.
Reporting to the CFO, you will play a pivotal role in managing the central finance function, ensuring robust financial control and delivering accurate reporting to support strategic decision‑making across the business.
Key responsibilities:- Lead, manage and develop the finance team on a day-to-day basis
- Oversee all payment processes, ensuring accuracy, compliance and timeliness
- Manage month-end and year-end close processes in line with reporting deadlines
- Review monthly management accounts, including reconciliations, accruals and prepayments
- Oversee payroll processes to ensure compliance and accuracy
- Maintain and enhance financial controls, systems and processes
- Support budgeting and forecasting activities
- Ensure compliance with statutory reporting, tax and audit requirements
- Business partner with operational teams and senior stakeholders
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives and support finance projects
- Proven experience in a Financial Controller or similar senior finance role
- Qualified accountant (ACA / ACCA / CIMA or equivalent preferred)
- Strong leadership and team management experience
- Excellent understanding of financial controls, reporting and accounting processes
- Experience overseeing payments, payroll and month-end processes
- Strong communication skills with the ability to influence stakeholders
- Highly organised and able to thrive in a fast-paced environment
- 12-month fixed-term contract with strong exposure to senior leadership
