ButlerRose practice is delighted to be supporting our client, an independent firm looking for an ambitious individual to help drive the future of their accounts and advisory team. You will be working as part of a wider private client team, which works with a variety of rural enterprises including landed estates, farms, rural businesses, and equine and bloodstock.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Client Service & Portfolio Management: Manage a portfolio of rural clients involving significant internal liaison, meetings with clients, approving technically robust tax computations, identifying technical issues, delivering complex tax advisory outcomes, maintaining technical knowledge, and providing exceptional client service in line with the firm's Charter.
  • Technical Delivery: Demonstrate exceptional technical knowledge and deliver this to clients through robust, effective advisory reporting and guidance.
  • Team Leadership & Staff Development: Manage and develop the team, conduct reviews, provide feedback, delegate appropriately, and build a confident, technically capable team.
  • Operational Efficiency & Workflow Management: Drive process efficiency and technology adoption, oversee WIP and billing, maintain compliance trackers, drive team productivity through recoveries and chargeable output, ensure files meet quality standards, and support client onboarding.
  • Business Development: Identify advisory opportunities within existing and new clients, support partners on complex client matters, and attend external events to build personal and the firm's profile.
  • Firmwide Contribution: Collaborate with other teams and contribute to wider firm initiatives including best practice and technology projects.

Personal Requirements:

  • Core advisory areas may include, but are not limited to: Accountancy Standards (UK GAAP, FRS105, FRS102 1A), Income Tax, VAT, Inheritance Tax, Capital Gains Tax, Trusts and Estates, and HMRC Investigations.
  • Qualified accountant (ACA or ACCA) and/or tax adviser (CTA) with exposure to a varied client base.
  • Strong interpersonal skills in addition to strong oral and written communication skills.
  • A keen appreciation of the issues facing rural clients and an ability to deliver bespoke tax solutions to meet their needs.
  • An ability to work as part of a team as well as on their own initiative.
  • High level of analytical skills and a commercial approach to resolving issues and providing advice.
  • Focused on building solid positive professional and personal client relationships by providing excellent client service.
