Job Description

The Opportunity

We're working with a highly successful and discreet private organisation to recruit a qualified accountant who combines strong technical finance skills with a genuine interest in technology, AI and process improvement.

This is a varied role offering the opportunity to work across finance, reporting, compliance and strategic projects, while taking a lead role in improving systems, processes and the use of technology across the business.

The ideal candidate will be someone who enjoys finding better ways of working and is equally comfortable getting involved in the detail of financial reporting and day-to-day operations.

The Role

Working closely with the senior finance and compliance team, you will:

  • Lead projects focused on improving systems, processes and operational efficiency.
  • Identify opportunities to use AI and automation across finance and compliance.
  • Manage system implementation projects, including planning, testing and rollout.
  • Work with software providers and internal stakeholders to deliver technology improvements.
  • Act as an internal champion for AI, supporting colleagues with the adoption of new technology and processes.
  • Support the preparation and review of management accounts, VAT returns, year-end accounts and audit information.
  • Assist with investment and wealth reporting, including investment performance, revaluations and reconciliations.
  • Prepare loan schedules, asset statements and supporting financial information.
  • Maintain accurate investment and financial databases and associated records.
  • Support company secretarial and corporate governance requirements, including statutory filings and maintaining corporate records.
  • Provide finance and compliance support across a portfolio of entities and investments.
  • Contribute to ongoing process improvement and operational development across the organisation.

About You

We're looking for a qualified accountant with at least three years' relevant experience who is looking for a role offering more variety and responsibility than a traditional accounting position.

You'll ideally have:

  • A recognised accountancy qualification such as ACA, ACCA or CIMA.
  • Strong finance and financial reporting experience.
  • A genuine interest in AI, technology and innovation.
  • Experience implementing or improving finance systems and processes.
  • Hands-on experience using AI and strong Microsoft 365 skills.
  • Excellent analytical, organisational and administrative skills.
  • The ability to manage multiple projects and competing priorities.
  • Excellent attention to detail and a high level of accuracy.
  • Strong communication skills and the confidence to work with stakeholders at all levels.
  • A discreet, professional and trustworthy approach when handling confidential information.
  • The ability to work independently while contributing effectively as part of a small team.
  • A commitment to maintaining your professional development and CPD.

What's on Offer

  • Competitive salary with annual salary and bonus reviews
  • 10% employer pension contribution
  • Additional pension contributions via salary sacrifice
  • 25 days' annual leave plus bank holidays
  • Private BUPA healthcare
  • Life insurance at 4x gross salary
  • Professional membership subscription paid
  • Ongoing CPD and professional development
  • Hybrid working available following an initial training/probationary period
  • Cycle to work scheme
  • Electric car benefit scheme
  • On-site parking
