Butler Rose are delighted to be working with a growing independent accountancy and advisory firm who are looking to recruit a Senior Client Adviser for their Leeds office. This is an excellent opportunity to join a forward-thinking firm with a strong advisory focus, a growing presence in Yorkshire, and a genuine commitment to creating a supportive, collaborative and progressive working environment.
The Leeds office is based in modern serviced offices in LS16 and currently operates as a satellite office to the firm's main practice. The business has ambitious growth plans and is looking for the right person to play a key role in developing long-term relationships with a portfolio of owner-managed business clients.
THE OPPORTUNITY
This is not a traditional accounts production or compliance role. It is a highly commercial, client-facing advisory position where you will act as a trusted adviser to business owners. You will manage a portfolio of 30+ owner-managed businesses, typically with turnovers between £1m and £15m, helping clients understand how their business is performing, what decisions need to be made and how to improve profitability, cash flow, growth and long-term value. Your time will be spent in client conversations, quarterly meetings and strategic discussions, rather than preparing accounts, filing tax returns or completing compliance work.
THE ROLE
As Senior Client Adviser, you will take ownership of a portfolio of clients and provide clear, practical and commercially focused advice.
- Acting as the main adviser for a portfolio of owner-managed businesses
- Leading quarterly client meetings focused on performance, direction and growth
- Translating financial information into clear, actionable commercial advice
- Helping clients understand profitability, cash flow, margins and business value
- Supporting clients with key business decisions, opportunities and challenges
- Identifying ways to add value, improve reporting and strengthen client relationships
- Growing and developing your portfolio through trusted, value-led conversations
- Working closely with internal teams who manage accounts, compliance and delivery
- Mentoring junior team members and supporting their commercial development
ABOUT YOU
You will ideally have the following skills and attributes:
- Experience advising or working within owner-managed businesses
- Exposure to businesses with turnovers of £3m+
- Strong commercial finance, advisory or client relationship experience
- The ability to turn financial information into practical business advice
- Confidence working directly with business owners, founders or senior stakeholders
- A good understanding of profitability, cash flow and what drives business value
- Working knowledge of key tax areas such as corporation tax, personal tax, CGT or IHT
- A proactive, solutions-focused and commercially curious approach
- ACA/ ACCA (or equivalent) would be beneficial, but is not essential.
The firm is more focused on commercial ability, client presence and the ability to build trusted relationships. This role may suit someone from practice who wants to move away from compliance and into a more advisory-led role, or someone from industry who enjoys using financial insight to influence business decisions.
