We are seeking an experienced Corporate Tax Director to lead a growing corporate tax function within a well‑established accountancy practice in Greater Manchester. This is a senior leadership role, offering the opportunity to manage a diverse portfolio of corporate clients, deliver high‑value advisory services, and shape the strategic direction of the tax team. The successful candidate will have a proven track record in corporate tax, strong leadership skills, and the ability to develop talent within the team while maintaining excellent client relationships.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage the corporate tax function, ensuring high‑quality advisory and compliance services
  • Oversee a portfolio of corporate clients, including owner‑managed businesses, SMEs, and larger corporate groups
  • Provide strategic tax planning advice, including corporate structuring, R&D incentives, capital allowances, international tax, and M&A due diligence
  • Act as the primary liaison with HMRC for senior client matters, risk management, and complex queries
  • Mentor senior and junior tax team members, promoting professional development and technical excellence
  • Support business development initiatives, identifying opportunities to expand advisory services and attract new clients
  • Manage budgeting, billing, and WIP for the corporate tax department, ensuring efficiency and profitability

Requirements

  • 10+ years’ corporate tax experience in professional practice or corporate advisory, with at least 5 years in a leadership role
  • Experience managing a large and complex client portfolio independently
  • Expertise in advisory projects, including international tax, share valuations, restructuring, and M&A
  • Proven leadership skills, with experience mentoring senior and junior staff
  • Excellent communication skills for client engagement, team leadership, and stakeholder management
  • Strong analytical, strategic, and business development acumen

Salary & Benefits
