Warehouse & Logistics Manager
£45,000 – £50,000 + Bonus | Outskirts of Lancaster
Butler Rose Supply Chain is supporting a growing industrial business in the appointment of an experienced Warehouse & Logistics Manager.
This is a key leadership role for an operationally strong warehouse professional who can develop people, improve processes and ensure the warehouse and logistics function is equipped to support continued growth.
The Role
You’ll take ownership of warehouse, distribution, inventory and logistics performance, combining hands-on leadership with a focus on continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead warehouse and distribution operations, ensuring strong service, quality, productivity and safety.
- Set and monitor operational KPIs, using data to identify issues and deliver improvements.
- Lead, coach and develop the warehouse team, creating clear expectations and a culture of accountability.
- Improve warehouse layout, workflows, storage and handling processes to increase efficiency and capacity.
- Maintain accurate inventory and effective stock controls, with a focus on reducing excess and ageing stock.
- Manage the WMS and support its integration with wider ERP systems, including future upgrades and improvements.
- Ensure operational procedures are clear, current and consistently followed.
- Manage relationships with 3PL, haulage and distribution partners, balancing service, cost and resilience.
- Support transport and route planning activity where required.
- Control warehouse expenditure and identify opportunities to improve productivity and reduce waste.
- Maintain high standards of health & safety, housekeeping, equipment and regulatory compliance.
- Plan warehouse resources and capacity around current requirements and future business growth.
- Work with wider business teams to deliver operational projects and improvements.
About You
You’ll ideally have:
- Proven experience managing warehouse, logistics or distribution operations, ideally within industrial, manufacturing, FMCG or supply environments.
- Strong knowledge of warehouse processes, WMS, inventory control and operational improvement.
- A track record of improving performance through people, process, systems or layout changes.
- Strong leadership skills, including coaching, performance management and team development.
- Commercial awareness across budgets, suppliers, service levels and operational risk.
- Excellent problem-solving, planning and organisational skills.
- Strong communication and stakeholder management abilities.
- Good IT skills, particularly Microsoft Excel.
Desirable: Microsoft Business Central or similar ERP experience, transport/route planning knowledge, and degree-level education or equivalent experience.
