Butler Rose is delighted to be supporting a well-established and growing manufacturing business based in the Newton Abbot area in the recruitment of an experienced Operations Supervisor. This is an exciting opportunity to join a company committed to quality, continuous improvement, and employee development.
The Role
Reporting directly to the Directors, the Operations Supervisor will be responsible for overseeing daily operational activities, driving efficiency, and ensuring compliance across the business. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in leading teams, optimising processes, and maintaining high standards to meet organisational goals.
Key Responsibilities:
- Supervision & Leadership: Lead and coordinate daily operations of assigned teams; Provide leadership, motivation, and training to enhance performance; Conduct performance reviews and support staff development.
- Operational Efficiency: Monitor workflow and implement process improvements; Ensure targets and KPIs are achieved on time and within budget; Analyse reports to identify areas for operational optimisation.
- Compliance & Safety: Ensure compliance with company policies, safety regulations, and industry standards; Conduct regular audits and risk assessments; Promote a culture of health and safety.
- Customer & Stakeholder Management: Respond to client queries and ensure high levels of satisfaction; Collaborate across departments for seamless operations; Maintain productive supplier and vendor relationships.
- Inventory & Resource Management: Manage inventory levels and resource planning; Monitor material usage and coordinate equipment maintenance; Ensure operational readiness at all times.
- Reporting & Documentation: Maintain accurate operational records; Produce reports on quality, productivity, and performance; Present findings and improvement strategies to senior management.
Candidate Profile:
Qualifications & Experience: Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Operations Management, Logistics or similar (preferred); 3-5 years' experience in a supervisory role within operations, logistics, or manufacturing; Relevant certifications (e.g., Lean Six Sigma, PMP) would be advantageous.
Skills & Attributes: Strong leadership and team management capabilities; Excellent communication, problem-solving, and decision-making skills; Technically minded, with a practical understanding of operations; Electrical and/or plumbing experience is desirable; Proficiency in Microsoft Office and familiarity with operational systems; High attention to detail, pride in work, and a proactive attitude; Ability to work independently and inspire others; A positive, team-oriented approach to leadership.
